  • My dog barks at the same spot every day. There’s nothing there.

My dog is an idiot and I love him.

Every morning he goes to the backyard corner and barks. Same spot. Same time.

I checked like 10 times. There's nothing there. No animals. No toys. Nothing.

But he's 100% sure something's wrong with that corner.

He'll sniff it. Bark at it. Look at me like "Dad, you seeing this??" Then bark some more.

Been doing this for 2 months now.

I gave up trying to understand. That corner is his enemy now.

Does your dog do weird stuff like this too?

  • Need advice, 10wk old puppy

Hello, I adopted a doberman Dalmatian mix, he is about 10 weeks old. On days I dont work he gets so much attension, walks, training, etc. He is wonderful at night on those days and goes right to sleep without any issue. He sleeps till about 5am, then I take him outside, then he sleeps a few more hours. The problem is on days I work. He is alone at home approximately 14 hours a day for 3 days a week. I get home and try to play with home for about an hour (all I can spare before having to sleep before work) to try and stimulate him. Then we go to sleep. All night he barks, whines, no matter what I do. I take him out multiple times a night. I give him bones and things to chew on, nothing works. Please give me some suggestions, I need to sleep for work. Thank you for your time.

  • 13 week old puppy will no sleep during the day at all

Hello. I’ve had my puppy for 3 weeks now and after setting a routine the first week he has been pretty solid at sleeping in his crate when put into it to enforce naps but would sometimes just self soothe himself on the floor etc.

This week for some reason he will no longer nap during the day and will scream if he is put it the crate, try and chew the bars, paw at them frantically. I honestly don’t know what to do because he is getting completely wired from not sleeping during the day but refuses to settle at all. I honestly had the worst time yesterday with him and he’s already refusing to sleep today.

Any advice welcome because I’m about to tear my hair out

  • Tips after first two weeks with ECS puppy

    Hi everyone!

Just had my little Rosie for two weeks. she is a 9 week old English Cocker Spaniel puppy.

Its my first puppy, but my second dog. There has been a lot of learning and mistakes, so wanted to share what worked well.

    – I started crate training from day one. This was a lifesaver. She takes all her naps there without issues.

    – When the puppy starts whining in the crate, give it 10 min before doing anything? 97% of the time she falls asleep before it hits 10 min.

    – I highly overestimated how much exercise the puppy need. 10min twice a day.

    – When she becomes super bity, zoomies, crazy and its been more than 30 min since she was up. straight to crate for sleep.

    – Wake up- straight to pee/poo/ – 10 min exercise, 5 min learning, – food, relaxing- pee/ poop and sleep. rinse and repeat

    – Covering the crate completely has been very helpful, playing music/ podcasts helps to.

    – I tried many places for her crate. ended up in my bedroom as she sleeps better in a quiet room.

    – I started leaving her alone in her crate for up to two hours after just 3 days. Lifesaver. She si actually calmer when I am not here.

    – Webcam in crate has been the best thing i have done. Being able to check on her whe out, and seeing her when she is whining changed things.

    – From day one I have exposed her to sounds, noise and loud TV. After two weeks she can sleep through me and my friend watching football at loud volume.

She already knows how to sit, comes when i recall. I get her to sit patiently until the foodbowl hits the ground before she eats.

Also noticed that my mood and stress level is mirrored by her, so taking care of my own well being helps both.

Let me know if you have questions

  • Advice on dog Refusing kibble suddenly – food pickiness or discomfort?

My girl has always gotten a half portion of wet food for her meals, and we use her daily ration of kibbles mostly for training. This worked like a dream for a while, she was super food motivated when we adopted her. I would say her food motivation in general has gone down, she finds the environment and play generally much more interesting now. Since shes 11 months however she has started refusing kibble. I used to use kibble as a litmus test for her excitement level because if she was over excited she wouldn’t take kibble but maybe higher value treats. But now even at home she refuses it. We switched her kibble after we had a period of stomach problems which are getting better and she seemed to love this new kibble! However she’s refusing that now too. I can’t tell if it’s related to tummy issues, if she’s just bored of it, if she’s got sore teeth maybe, or if she’s just holding out for something better. Since we are doing a lot of training and reactivity training i do go through a lot of treats and enjoyed the fact that I could use her kibble rather than stuff her with treats. Should we for now just give up on the kibble and replace with treats? Anyone have recommendation on some not too unhealthy high value treats? Anyone experience this during their dog’s adolescent phase? She’s been in full teenager mode in general haha

  • Dog owners in Koblenz and the surrounding area, please help! Dog groomer wanted!

    Hello everyone

We're moving at the beginning of February. We have a Papillon Chihuahua mix female dog whose fur grows like weeds under her paws. Therefore, I'm looking for helpful recommendations for a good, affordable dog groomer in Koblenz and the surrounding area.

We can't go to our current groomer anymore because of the move, as I don't want to subject our dog to a 4-hour commute just for a quick visit to the groomer. Oh, and the groomer should be easily accessible by bus and train.

Thank you in advance for any helpful information.

  • Chihuahua Whining

my family got a 10w old miniture chihuahua and we’re trying to crate train her. she constantly whines as soon as we put her in and it can go on for minutes. the vet said its best for her to be in the crate im scared she’ll stress herself out.

she already went into a hypoglycemic shock twice (shes okay now after vet visit).

so do we just let her whine? what if she gets too stressed?

  • How do I stop my dog crying for treats?

My wolfhound cross and I have a routine… Kibble is out out in the morning…. And at night I give her a big bowl of food which rotates between cooked mince with vegetables and prime 100 rolls with sardines or tuna. Sometimes cheese on the top. She seems to get very bored if I don't give her variety, but I know it's not that good for them so I switch it up every two weeks. My point is, she eats very well and I spare no expense!

After dinner she gets a Greenie chew. She LOVES them. It's expensive but I love her so I get them.

The issue is the last three months, after the Greenie she starts whining and crying asking for more treats. The issue is I've given in. Her cries break my heart! And I've given her extra different types of treats. Up to 4 a night.

Now, when I don't give her the extra treats she cries and cries and when I say "no" firmly and hold my hand up in a stop sign, she barks at me. She's a big dog so while it's ok for me it would be scary for anyone dog sitting her.

The more I say no, the more she barks. And she cries and whines and some nights I just don't have it in me so I give up and give her more treats.

But the treats are costing me $70 a week not even including the Greenies (or her food) so it needs to stop!

How do I get her out of this habit – while letting her know she's loved and cared for?
