Hi everyone, I’ve been overseas due to work. I haven’t been with my dog for 4 years. Now I’m back and want to give him a pet. The problem is that he is barking angrily towards me. Does he still remember me? (He’s my dog since he was a pup) How do I get to pet him? How to approach him safely? Thanks!

3 month heeler/aussie mix. Overall going really good and he learned 4 tricks. But…

1. How long does potty training take? Hes been 6 days in the house and I take him outside constantly (he pees outside right away) but he still has accidents. Are you supposed to reward every time he pees outside?

2. Leading to this question: how much water should he drink? I try to limit because he is obsessed with water and will finish it no matter what. But I also don't want him to be dehydrated. Idk what I should do. But this leads him to peeing A LOT.

3. Is it normal he eats poop outside? Idk why he does it. He also completely ignores me outside, like he forgets all his training. Super stubborn.

Need some help please. My puppy (9mths old) started this insane biting phase. Here's the thing, he only bites at random times. For example, when im jus laying on the couch he would suddenly bite my hands..

did i do something wrong? how should i stop this?

Hi all is there any significant difference between real or fake grass pads for our new puppy? He’s been doing really well on our fake grass pad and we’ve been making sure he doesn’t eat at it. Thanks

I have a 4 month old Maltese who I got at 10 weeks old. The first 5 weeks we were in my condo. Then we had to move into a hotel for 5 weeks while my insurance company had restoration done following water damage a year ago. We still have 2 weeks to go before the work is done and we can go home. I decided to not address separation anxiety until we are settled back at home. By then my puppy will have spent 5 weeks at home, 5 weeks in a hotel, then home again. Today I met a woman and her dog at the park. While our pups played we talked about training. She had a trainer work with her when she got her puppy. The trainer recommended addressing separation anxiety as soon as you get your puppy so they don’t get accustomed to having you around. I am retired and have been with my pup 24/7 since I got him, except for the occasional afternoon at doggie daycare (where he does fine).

Have I been wrong to wait until we’re back home before I start leaving him alone for short periods?

What is the best way to go about this?

Does it get better?

My husband and I have been talking about getting a sister for our 6 year old for a while, as we feel like it’s a great age to have a sibling.

We went to Petsmart on the off chance that they are doing an adoption event with a local shelter and they were. We found a beautiful lab/pittie mix that is 9 weeks old and decided to take her home.

When we adopted our first girl, she was about a year old, and I felt like it wasn’t ANYTHING like our current puppy. Constant biting/nibbling, dealing with crate training again, and the constant worry that I’m not doing enough for her.

I know she is a literal baby, so I don’t hold anything against her, but please tell me it gets easier, and that I DO love her enough.

My lab mix about 4 years old has started peeing in the house…he has never done this and has always gone to the door or indicates when he needs to go out. Do I need to get him fixed? Help!

Flair is not that accurate, just a behavior question, on one hand I feel like she likes me, she gets excited when I come around, lays on my clothing close to me, has frequently laid back facing toward me and enjoys when I do the things she likes. On the same token, she seems to stop moving when I pet her, doesn’t always follow my hand and sometimes just seems generally uncooperative, as if she’s more interested in what I can bring than me on my own. I will admit she hasn’t had a perfect life, her previous owners treated her badly, and I didn’t have a lot of knowledge on how to care for her in her first year other than that she needed food, water, toys and walks. I want to do better but I need to know where to go from here?

TLDR; my dog seems to like me, then she seems indifferent. Any way to cement the bond? Her life didn’t start perfectly but I am working on her now. Questions are allowed. 🙂
