  • Puppy introduction to my husky

I have an 3 year old husky he recently had an baby girl we had to adopt her today due to some circumstances when we introduced her to him in our arms he sniffed her he is not being aggressive in any way rather than he is not letting us get close to her crate and he is constantly crying to be in her room she is really young and we cannot introduce her to him openly he wants to sniff her lick her be near her and is constantly crying

Is it a good sign that they will get along ?or the crying is normal?he is not showing any aggression towards her sniffing but constantly crying and he doesn’t want to leave her alone

  • I think my dog has ptsd

I have an 11 year old saluki / lab who is a rescue. She has been with us since she was 4 and is so lovely.

Over summer we had a small kitchen fire where the alarm was going off and the fire department came.

Ever since when she hears the oven beeps (the ones from turning on or adjusting anything) or the treadmill turning on she begins shaking heavily and going upstairs (she is older and never went upstairs before this).

I know she is experiencing some sort of ptsd regarding the beeping as she never had this reaction prior.

Does anyone have advice on what we can do to help ease her stress?

  • Pomeranian puppy

I got a Pomeranian puppy a month and a half ago. Today he is 5 months old and I’m not sure if I’m unintentionally causing my puppy to have behavioral problems? He recently got fully vaccinated and so it’s been a week of him getting to know the outside world. Whenever we are out he ALWAYS picks something off from the ground and when I try taking it out of his mouth he growls and tries to bite me. I should note that he still isn’t fully relaxed when we are out, almost everything and everyone scares him.

I also have no idea how to get him to listen to commands by asking once and not repeating myself multiple times for him to let go of my pants or shirt.

    Please help 🙁

  • Help small dogs get down stairs to the backyard?

My dogs are 13 (chihuahua) and 10 (terrier mix). Our current home has a back door that opens onto the backyard more or less at grade, but the yard in our new house slopes from front to back. The front porch is more or less ground level, but the back door opens to a deck with a one story flight of stairs. Anyone have smart solutions? Has anyone made a fenced run from a front porch at grade through to the back privacy fence? A dog door in a wall with a ramp??

  • Potty training help

I rescued a puppy almost 3 months ago and she's been doing great with learning new commands but I cannot get her to use the bathroom outside. Her previous owner would let her use the bathroom in the house and have no repercussions so I feel like that is a huge part of the problem. I have her on a schedule and I've tried putting her on a leash in the backyard and walking her around hoping that'll help but she literally will not use the bathroom outside. We could be outside for five minutes or 30 minutes and the second we come inside she uses the bathroom. I've cleaned with white vinegar and natures miracle, but that has not stopped her lol. I've had dogs my whole life and I don't remember potty training being this hard so if anyone has any tips or tricks, please share I'm struggling lolol

  • Reactivity

I have a 3-year-old mixed breed puppy; we got her when she was 3 months old and we think she may have been treated poorly before arriving to the shelter we got her from. She's incredibly well-behaved overall but we've never been able to get a handle on her barking. When she sees another dog, either from inside our apartment or on a walk, it's like she loses her mind. We’ve tried redirecting her with every kind of treat and incentive imaginable but she is so laser-focused on the other dog(s), it's like she can’t even think about anything else. The only thing that sometimes works in physically grabbing her muzzle and directing her away which I hate doing. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • I just need to know it gets better

My dog is almost a year and a half now. He's a toy poodle and is behind on training because of an injury that happened in the middle of his puppy hood that left him hurt for two and a half months. All he does is bite and bark and me. He doesn't do this with my roommate or family, at least to this extent. I've tried ignoring it, telling him no until he stops and then praising him when he stops, but nothing seems to work with him. We had a trainer who told us to make him bite himself but I've stopped doing that because that makes it worse and I suspect he sees it as play. The trainer also suggested stomping which again I stopped because now he bites feet. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong or why he seems to behave better for everyone else. Everyone who watches him rants and raves how good of a puppy he is, but he isn't with me. I'm still trying the training. I even do reverse time outs and leave him alone for 1-2 hours to be in my room but most time he cries at my door the whole time. I'm so tired, burnt out, and depressed. I just need to know that this is gonna get better. That he isn't some evil problem dog who hates me and that if I keep being consistent he'll train.

  • I think my puppy ate a zipper

I have a 13 week old English bulldog and while I was out of the house I'm pretty sure he ate a zipper off the couch pillow. I came home and the pillow was unzipped but no sign of the zipper anywhere!! Should I take him to an emergency vet or should he be okay?!🥲 He's acting fine but I'm kinda freaking out.

  • Walking my dog and he lets turds slip out?

    Hi,

We recently moved and my dog no longer has a yard to utilize for restroom breaks. He hates and almost refuses to use the bathroom on the leash. He will wait to go until he goes to daycare. Recently I’ve been finding random turds around just one not a pile. Today I took him outside and on the walk I saw the turd slip as he was walking. It was solid and then 2-3 mins later he gave in and took a proper dump. Is this due to him literally holding it until he can’t any more and they slip out?

  • Ruffland Kennel Question

My Aussie is 47 lbs , roughly 34 in length and 19 in height. I got the XL but after looking online at other people and what they have, I think I have a size or maybe even 2 sizes too big. I didn’t know that you should get a crate that’s a little snug due to the fact they could get hurt if it’s too big. The XL does not fit in my SUV the way I was hoping. If I want other people to ride with me, it’s simply not an option, which was not what I was hoping for. I can have one seat in the back but what I was looking for was to have a kennel that only took up the space of my trunk. I have a Chevy Equinox. Does anyone know what size would work?
