Falling hard for 5 month GR puppy
My golden retriever puppy, Rose, just turned 5 months. The past week or so I've really started to love her so much. Yes, she's a teenager but she listens decently most the time. We've been really successful at potty training. She's very affectionate, loves her older (9 years old) sister, and I can't wait to see how our relationship develops over the years. If you are experiencing puppy blues, hang in there! It definitely will pass!

Seeking advice on anxiety being alone with puppy
Hello, Me and my boyfriend just got our puppy home yesterday. Everything been going well, he is well-behaved, goes to potty outside and is wonderful. However, because of my boyfriend’s work he will have to leave us two (me and our puppy) for a week. It is my first puppy while my boyfriend grew up with dogs all his life. Any advice on how to deal with anxiety and what would be your best tips on how to manage during this week? I think I know the basics what to do and I’ve gone alone with him outside. However, I am afraid that our puppy will also feel anxious without my boyfriend being around and I wouldn’t know what to do. Maybe you have experienced similar things?

Wet food/dry food for puppy
I've always adopted older dogs (3+ years) and always fed them only dry food. We just adopted a 5 month old beagle girl. At the shelter, they were feeding her wet mixed with dry. They said she preferred wet food and hardly touches kibble but recommended I try feeding her both.
Maybe it's because she's now comfortable home but I've learned she actually prefers the kibble but doesn't like it mixed with wet. She'll eat a little wet but only if I give her a small amount. Once it's finished I give her a larger amount of kibble and she gobbles it up. When I try giving her a larger quantity of wet, she doesn't finish it.
Any issue with just feeding her the kibble at this age? I'm thinking once we run out of the cans, we'll go kibble only. Am I missing anything about phasing out the wet food?

How do I get my dog not to eat chicken bones off the street?
I have a 7 yr old dog and since I adopted him at 1.5, he’s been extremely bad about eating food off the street, especially chicken bones. I live in a city so they are pretty common to see.
I’ve taught him leave it from the beginning and he knows how to leave SOME things we run into. For the life of me I can’t get him to leave chicken bones.
It’s really because he’s so quick and I don’t see them until I hear him crunching on it. Sometimes I’ll pry his mouth open to drop it, and when I haven’t, I’ve been lucky so far that he hasn’t had any abdominal issues.
I don’t know how to train him to leave chicken bones. They seem too high a reward for him and it’s really driving me up a wall. I’m exhausted feeling like I can’t enjoy our walks because I’m too busy scanning the ground for food.
Any advice?

Is my dog hunting my cat, or just interested?
So I have 3 dogs, 2 of them are completely fine around cats and have lived with cats before, but my one dog, a large male standard poodle, has never been around cats and is relatively young (2-3 yrs old). He gets excited at a lot of things, and when I brought my new cat home I slowly tried to introduce them to each other. So far, my poodle likes to intensely stare at the cat with his ears to attention, very still with his tail wagging sometimes. Whenever the cat makes any fast movements, he flinches and tenses up like he’s gonna chase, but his recall is very good, so if I say his name he’ll stay still. In my opinion, which means very little because I’m no professional, it looks like he’s hunting the cat. I just want to know if anyone who has experience with poodles or just dogs and cats in general knows if it really is hunting, or just very excited intense interest or something. If it is hunting, I’d also like to learn how to resolve it if possible. I don’t want to have to give up the cat, but I will for its own safety as a last resort.

Mud party : clean-up advice
Hi, my 23 week old puppy has just had the best play with her mate but she come back with the stickiest mud on all her paws. It was fibrous mud and really sticking to each of her nails, honestly how do you clean these up? Took me a good while almost half hour of scrubbing, pulling apart and wiping. Any advice or tips? Thanks!
