  • Nipping at 6 months+ reassurance needed

    Hey all

Sorry I have posted on here a few times, I'm an anxious girl šŸ˜‚

We rescued a stray Labradoodle about 2 months old & we believe he's 6 months old roughly now. He has all his adult teeth so I'm assuming teething is over.

He nips us when he wants play, attention or treats.

Saying ow! Does nothing neither does yelping.

Currently we are disengaging when he does it (get up walk away) and he gets fuss & play when he approaches without nipping. Sitting on our own sofa is IMPOSSIBLE as he jumps all over us nipping us unless he has a toy.

Can I have some reassurance this behaviour will pass from people who's dogs still nipped at this age and beyond? I can deal with a lot of dog behaviours but not nipping.

  • Dog growls at other dogs when inside yard, but not outside?

We have a really big yard at the front of our house which is fully fenced and has a street next to it. There's quite a few people everyday walking their dogs on that street. Everytime my dog is in the yard, she will bark aggressively and growl at every dog that walks by. If you didn't know her, you'd think she is very suspicious and even aggressive towards dogs.

But now the strange thing is, when she meets dogs on the streets, in training or even when we have visitors and she plays with their dogs in our yard, she is the friendliest dog ever, shows no signs of aggression or anything and is super happy to play with the other dog.

At first I thought she may be protective over her home/territory and that's why she was being "aggressive" towards the other dogs, but literally the second that dog would enter the yard with her, she would be happy and totally friendly.

Maybe she's showing frustration that way because she so desperately wants to play with the dog but can't? I don't know, it's just been confusing me as to why she does that.

also side note she's only 6 months old, idk if that changes anything. but she's been like this ever since we got her from a shelter.

  • Neutered puppies diet that can boost testosterone

I have a 4 month old male chocolate lab mix. Adopted him from shelter and he’s already been neutered at around 10 weeks of age. I’ve been reading a lot about impacts of early neutering. Are there any diet/supplements that would increase his testosterone naturally? He’s already 35 lbs at 4 months of age.

  • Has anyone tried Genius Dog?

I was wondering if anyone has tried the Genius Dog subscription box? I saw an ad that said they make champagne and popcorn for dogs, and I think it could be fun to try. I worry about my dog getting less active as she gets older, so I was looking for some more enriching toys and treats for her.

  • Senior dog…got destructive?!?

I have an 11yo Rott mix that hasn’t been destructive since she was a puppy.

I just went out to dinner and came home to my mattress pad being torn up. (Linens are in the wash)

I’m confused and that’s really an understatement. This girl hasn’t had to be restricted in 9.5-10 years across 5 other homes (this is our 6th and we’ve been here since Thanksgiving).

Added a puppy at Thanksgiving but they’ve been getting along other than normal puppy annoyance. That said, the last couple weeks the older dog has been a little less tolerant of the pup but nothing extreme.

Any thoughts or just write this off as a one-off incident?

  • rehoming advice

About a month ago, I ā€œrescuedā€ a cane corso/GSD mix. He was being rehomed by a lady in my town on FB marketplace. She said he was suitable for my 2k sqft townhome and required a few walks a day for his energy to get out. He was also advertised as a working dog for psychiatric and mobility tasks.

Unfortunately, he has so much energy and behavioral issues that we cannot handle him anymore. We don’t want to give him back to her as she is most definitely not trustworthy and whenever I text her, she spews lies about his behavior being our fault.

Long story short — we are looking to rehome him. We want to find somebody with a large yard and hopefully other dogs that will be able to play with him. Does anyone know of any good rehoming organizations that can help with placement? I don’t trust using outlets like FB or adopt a pet.

  • My dogs eats my cat poop

My dog (toy poodle) loves to go inside my cats toilet and grab the poop from there and eat it.

Not sure how to prevent that.

We cannot put it in a high place, we cannot close it either as the cat needs to use it

    Any suggestions?

  • First dog passing

    Hello

I’m writing because it’s been almost a year since my first ever dog died. I am deeply hurt by it and it’s been weighing on me ever since it happened. How did you all navigate life after? I’m having a hard time. I have goals, family that loves and cares for me it’s just I can’t move past my beloved pet passing. I knew the day would come, heck I’d even cry when she was a puppy because I knew it wouldn’t be forever, but I’m still super hurt. Any advice? Please…
