Did anyone have a lot of misses in the beginning and still successfully pottytrain?
I just watched a video that said the key to successful potty training is NEVER allowing them to go in the house. Checks out. I’ve had my golden retriever pup on a leash inside and watch him most of the day and catch most of the pees and poos now (he’s 9 weeks Old)
Only…. It’s the night time I’m struggling with. I’m sleep deprived. I limit water 2hrs before bed. I only give him dinner around supper time. I take him out at 10pm and set two alarms – one for 2am and one for 6am.
But still, every morningn / night there’s pee on the floor. When I wake up and see it I always, always take him outside and praise him for going outside.
I know his bladder is still small – but realistically I can’t be awake all night every night to watch him. I’m not sure if crate training would help (though we are going to get one) as he’s actually peed in our bed before –
I’m asking – anyone here have a pup who peed on the floor in the night and as they got older were able to “hold it” and figure it out? I’m soooo worried I’m going to have a bad habit started here but I’m SO TIRED 😪

Puppy barks and whines when left alone for a few minutes
Hey! I have a 5 month old Maltipoo, that we’ve adopted 1.5 months ago. He’s behaving rather normally for a puppy and sleeps alone at night without major issues. However, we can’t leave the house because he starts barking and whining after about a minute. We’re exiting the house multiple times a day for a few seconds to get him used to the fact that we’re leaving. Also, as our dog trainer adviced, we started going out for a few minutes (5-6). We only come back when he’s been chill for at least 5-10 seconds. He has all sorts of toys, a lick mat, a kong etc., but even with all these distractions he still starts barking and whining. Our dog trainer told us not to extend the training until it gets better, however there has been no progress for at least a week now. Is it too short time to notice a change? Or maybe something is wrong with the training in your opinion? Would you advise some methods that worked for you? We’d like to eventually be able to leave him alone for few hours. I know it’s a long way to go, but that’s our plan. Thank you for all the suggestions.

Getting a puppy with my 2 older cats?
So I currently have two 18 year old cats, male and female. They can go inside and outside, whereas the puppy would only be allowed downstairs. So my question is, would the puppy stress out my cats or would they be fine? They spend most of their time upstairs sleeping. The puppy would either be in their crate or play pen unless supervised. There will be someone at home most of the time. Thanks!
