  • What bones/chews worked for your teething puppy?!

I have a 3.5 month old golden so of course, all he wants to do is chew! He loooves bones/chews, especially a yak chew before I found out about teeth breaking. It’s one of the best ways to get him to settle, or at least not try and use me as a bone! 😂

I’ve been trying to only get him less hard chews and bones to be conscious of his baby teeth, especially after seeing how much the dental vet bill would be for a cracked tooth 😵‍💫🤑

He goes nuts for anything meat, and I feel much better with them being fully edible so he doesn’t down something he shouldn’t. So far the best ones have been a braided dried beef esophagus chew and a teething specific edible Nylabone, the only problem has been he tears through them sooooo fast! He also does fairly well with frozen carrots and apples 🍎 🥕

What worked for your pupper? Any bad experiences I should avoid? Hit me!

  • Tell me it gets easier

We have an awesome two year old dog and just got a 3 month old puppy. They get along great and really love playing with each other. To the point where settling down is challenging since one always instigates the other. I also believe things are challenging simply for the fact my puppy is 3 months old. As she gets older, do things get better? Will they learn to take breaks in their constant playing? Will they eventually settle better?

I am lucky they love each other and they are sweet girls. But does it get easier? I know it will take time. Looking for someone who has gone through this and is on the other side of it.

  • Dog peeing in house again

My 29 lb dog, Luna, has habitually urinated in the house since we adopted her about 5 years ago. She is about 7 now. She has always gone into my daughter’s playroom to pee. We did training with an in home trainer and followed her advice (basically frequent trips outside and lots of praise/treats). About a year later we worked with a dog behaviorist who suggested feeding her in the playroom, spreading treats around the room for her to find. None of it worked and Luna continued to pee in that room every few months. Over the years, she developed a pattern of doing well for a few months, then peeing two or three times, then going a few months before peeing again. We finally put a gate up to keep her out of the room. That reduced the problem, although she did pee in other rooms occasionally since the playroom was inaccessible. A year and a half ago, my other dog (male) passed away. After that, Luna went about 15 months without peeing in the house. We took down the gate and I thought the problem was solved. However, a few months ago she started peeing in the play room again. She peed 3 times this week! We use Natures Miracle and have a washable rug that we wash each time she pees. We have tested for UTIs multiple times and all bloodwork is normal. I walk her at least 4 times a day and make sure she actually pees when we are out. Any ideas on why she is doing this, or how to stop it?!?!

  • 4pets Caree

Hi everyone, I have a 12kg terrier mix. I want to upgrade his car crate to a crash tested one and not a metal wire one.

I've got a smallish car and can't fit any of the super expensive ones like Gunner, Ruffland etc.

I've been looking at the 4pets Caree, it's in my budget but I don't know if it'll be too small for him. Internal depth says 48cm and my boy is approx 51cm nose to base of tail.

Can anyone show me their dogs in this crate? Ones on the larger size of the limit. Don't want to buy and him be uncomfortable because it's too small!

Our usual trips are normally only 20-30 minutes but a couple of times a year we do a 3.5-4 hour drive with a stop half way so can be in the crate for up to 2 hours on those few occasions. Plus I want to hopefully travel a bit more with him next year so would potentially be doing some much longer trips.

    Thanks!

  • Climbing puppy is an escape artist.

We have a 10 week old medium sized Bernese mix. He does really great in his crate at night and naps/plays in his playpen decently well. We have a large family so there’s always someone home. If we leave the room for longer than a few minutes though while he’s in the playpen (3ish ft tall) he attempts to climbs out to come find us. We discourage him and he’s never made it all the way out thankfully as he would tumble into the tile floor. Tomorrow we all have to be out for a few hours. I hate to lock him in his crate and give him anxiety as he’s doing so well but I’m not sure what other options I have. Are there dog playpen covers? I’ve never had a dog who climbs!

  • Help with sleep regression

I’m not even sure sleep regression is the right phrase but it’s the best I can think of at the moment. I have a 10 month old cocker spaniel who over the last couple weeks has decided he no longer wants to sleep at night until it gets to 1/2am.

We had managed to get him into a good routine for a few months where we’d be going upstairs around 9:30/10pm to then sleep by 10:30ish. This would allow time for him to decide he wanted to go for another wee etc. He does sleep on the bed with us and he’s been very good at either staying on the bed or sleeping on a blanket on the floor the whole night without needing to wake us up.

But it’s like a switch has flicked and he no longer recognises bed time as time to go to sleep. He could be fast asleep on our sofa at 9pm but the second we go upstairs to bed, he becomes a demon that’s summoned the energy of every dog that’s ever existed and refuses to settle. Even if I bring him back downstairs, he won’t then settle down again for a while otherwise I’d just let him sleep downstairs instead.

The weirdest part is he’s become obsessed with being outside at night. He doesn’t craze to go out too much during the day but at night he’ll be constantly at the door wanting to go outside to do … nothing. He might do a wee or poo the first couple times but then he’ll just stand by the door or edge of the decking staring at nothing.

We’re trying to switch up when he has his walks to see if that makes a difference but I’m hoping others have potentially gone through the same or similar and have some other tricks that worked so we can get him back into a routine.

  • Our Boy’s first Winter – Any tips?

We got our boy in March. He’s a rescue from Texas, but was brought up to a northern state. This week has been our first taste of truly COLD walks. Our dog is a 65lb, double-coated, and about 15 months old. We don’t have a backyard, so his outdoor exercise is gonna be mostly walks. We are committed to giving him the 90-120 mins of walks he needs, but I would love any advice you folks have on:

    1) what signs should we be looking for to see if he’s cold and needs the walk to end?

    2) what can we do to make walks in the cold more tolerable for him?

    3) what can we do to make walks in the cold more tolerable for us?

    Thanks in Advance!

  • New Puppy Help (Potty and Playpen)

Hello! Me and my parents just adopted a new puppy! hes 9 weeks and a mini bernedoodle. hes adorable, but hes our first dog and we need some help.

we are crate training him and using a playpen in the living room. he loves his crate and constantly goes in unprompted. one big problem is hates going to the bathroom outside and constantly goes in his playpen and on the floor everywhere. we use an enzyme spray and we reward him with cheerios when he goes outside, but we take him out at least every hour and he will come straight inside and pee in the pen almost instantly. we took him outside for about five minutes earlier today and the second we brought him inside. He started peeing on the floor, so we picked him up and quickly brought him outside, and he would not pee outside. Once we brought him in, he fully continued to pee on the floor. we just dont know what to do.

he also wimpers whenever we leave the pen even when he doesnt want to play. like we come in and he goes to his crate immediately. he also has problems with eating all his food. we cant seem to teach him any tricks or his name yet either.

hes a darling but we are getting different feedback from different videos and forums and we want to set things straight

  • Is it worth seeing an online vet for a new puppy?

Maybe a weird question, but I'm getting Instagram advertised to from online vets. I'm a new puppy owner. Is this something you've done with your doggo before? What are the pros and cons?
