Puppy being aggressive
My 9 week old Jack Russell puppy is getting aggressive, it’s not just teething. He keeps snapping at everyone if he doesn’t get his own way. Is there anything we can do to help him?

Help! My 15-week-old Brussels Griffon wants to PARTY at 2am 😩
We have a 15-week-old male Brussels Griffon. He has a playpen with his little crate inside. During the day, he’s great — he happily goes into the crate on his own to nap or hang out with a Kong or toy. He’ll take 2–3 hour naps in there multiple times a day.
He’s an active pup. We live downtown, so he goes on short walks, and we also do:
1x weekly puppy social 1x private training session 1x group training session
We both WFH. Everyday we play fetch, do puzzle feeders or training games, and sometimes he just chills on our lap with a no-hide chew. In the evening, after his zoomies, he’ll often put himself to bed or crash with us on the sofa. Bedtime is usually between 7–10pm, depending on how the previous night went.
He’s eating, drinking, and going potty regularly although imperfectly on the latter. I think we’re doing all the right things while also trying to live normal human lives.
But… after about 3–4 hours of sleep, he wakes up in his covered crate (with white noise on) and decides it’s PARTY TIME. Even if he goes potty, he’s fully awake and ready to play.
Here’s what I’ve tried:
Quick potty break, back in crate → cries Let him sit with me with a chewy, then back in crate → cries Let him fall asleep on the sofa, move him to crate → cries Frozen Kong in the crate → eats it, then cries Meal in the crate → finishes, then cries Bring him to bed → climbs on our faces (no one sleeps 😅)
What do I do?! I’m losing it during those 2–4am hours, (honestly I don’t even know what time it is but it is 3-4 hours after he goes down for the night) — I know he’s still a baby, but I’d love advice from anyone who’s been through this and survived.

First walk: An update no one asked for
After almost two months of waiting, my puppy finally had his first walk today. Here are the results:
Pee made: 0
Poops made:0
Eaten flowers:2
Garbage collected from the ground: 5
Neighbors greeted: 10
Sticks collected: 3
Commands obeyed: 50%
Treats eaten: all
Total energy after leaving: 200%
Naps: 1
Biting attempts due to emotion: 7
Things we are scared of:
A garage door opening
A leaf falling from a tree
Your own ball
The Roll of Poop Bags That he Didn't Make
A stick that's too big
A dove
A piece of paper flying
Important notes: Halfway through the walk he remembered that I had treats in my bag and that I had been trained to walk on the leash, so he started to behave like an angel…until we ran out of treats.
The walk lasted an hour, but the vast majority of it was sitting on the grass smelling things and playing with his toys, more than anything getting him used to being on the ground outside the house. All in all he did quite well. At one point when he was calm I decided to reinforce his commands to see if we would have a lot to work with and, surprisingly, he did it all! He didn't even get confused, he just said "oh, free treats!" And he followed every command hahaha,

Solutions for biting while playing?
Hi y’all 👋. My new puppy who is now 6 months old likes to bite while playing. It’s getting more aggressive when she nibbles. Is there any solution to deter her from this behavior? Redirecting to a more appropriate toy for her age? Any help appreciated 🙏 ♥️

House Training Rescue Puppy
Long time lurker, first time poster
Two weeks ago to the day, my husband and I adopted a sweet 6 months old Lab mix puppy, Sir Percival of the Round Table aka Percy. According to the rescue we got him from, he was locked in an abandoned house with little to no food for weeks. Due to this, he developed severe mange and was completely malnourished. However, despite everything, he is such a loving and playful dog.
The biggest problem we are currently having is house training. At 6 months old, he is still not house trained. Although we are making progress, he still poops or pees in the house at least 2-3 times a day. He doesn’t alert us or let us know he needs to go, he simply does his business. We are currently giving him treats right after he goes to the bathroom outside trying to incentivize that behavior. We are also letting him out every hour. But it’s still not working. My personal theory is that since he was living in an abandoned house for so long, he has trained himself to go indoors rather than out.
We have no intention of giving him up because of this, I’m just having a hard time seeing the end of the tunnel. I worry that this will be our reality going forward with no improvement. If anyone has any advice, please please pass it along. Thank you in advance!

Pet Insurance Advice?
Hey everyone. I’m bringing my Bernese puppy home in a few weeks and I’m looking for everyone’s opinions on insurance companies.
I’ve decided to absolutely go with insurance, rather than put the monthly amount in a savings, just due to past experiences with emergencies/hospital stays/etc.
I’ve done so much researching but honestly, my brain is fried and it’s become a bit overwhelming at this point.
So any advice is welcome, thank you!

Megathread: Why Does My Dog Do That?
Does your dog turn his head when he hears an odd noise? Does your dog bury their food with your pants? This is the thread to ask why.
Please keep this thread to non-medical issues only.
