  • Puppy is having a tough time outside with city noise

I've had my now 12 week old pup for about 3 weeks, he's been very on and off in terms of comfort and anxiety when we go outside to potty. Sometimes he's easy and walks (just by my building since he's not fully vaccinated), but does always stop to observe when people, cars, bikes etc pass by. Recently it seems like he's regressing on this and getting more anxious as time goes on and he tries to pull me/rush to get inside.

What can I do to give him some more courage and comfort outside?

  • Gunner kennel in Honda Civic?

I need a large gunner kennel for my GSD mix, does anyone have any experience in getting one into a Honda Civic? If it helps it’s a 2016 LX 4D. It looks like I’d have to take the door off to squeeze it in there but I haven’t bought it yet so I don’t know what to expect. Thank you!!!

  • Fresh Patch – QC Issues?

Hi! I've seen people post about quality control issues with fresh patch (but those posts are older) where people are seeing lots of bugs in the soil. Has that been resolved? What has your experience with them been recently? Thanks!

  • Puppy Urine Odor on Carpet

No idea where to post this since I've been off Reddit so long.

Currently live in an apartment with my husband and our 5 month old puppy who has an issue peeing inside. We have started potty training him but if we do not respond fast enough he pees inside. This is started to make our apartment start having an odor despite us cleaning it up with sprays and using paper towels.

I think this is setting him back on potty training despite us having major leaps and bounds forward since we have implemented a schedule. We have a hoover vac that was gifted to us to be able to use. Despite my husband using it on the floors I can still smell it.

What are some things we can use to fully remove the odor and make the house smell clean again?

  • Advice on starting my new puppy and my current dog off on the right foot.

I just got a new puppy (heeler mix) a few days ago, she’s 8 weeks. My current dog (also a heeler mix) is 6. I mainly got the puppy because I feel like my dog lives a very boring life. He is deathly afraid of cars so no walks for him. He doesn’t get along with other adult dogs so no dog parks or play dates (he’s only good with dogs he knows and usually puppies). He just sits around all day and barks at dogs going past my window. I introduced them slowly when I first got her, she has her crate and toy set up in my guest bedroom blocked by a gate, so he has his own space. I’ve set up ways for him to get away from her if she’s being too much. We started off great, he corrected her twice, once on food and a growl for getting in his face too much, both of which I didn’t discourage because I think older dogs are great for teaching puppies manners. But after playing with her yesterday for short spans, today he seems totally uninterested and growling at her as he runs to get away. It’s nothing too serious – yet – I am just looking for advice on how to balance giving him space to correct her without running the risk of him hurting her. Any tips on how to go forward and make sure they end up being buddies and setting them up to succeed? I should add, I don’t want to introduce treats around the two of them yet, my older dog can get food aggressive and the puppy is absolutely nuts about food right now, seems like a bad recipe but curious to know people’s thoughts.

  • Did anyone *not* experience a terrible adolescent phase?

Just wondering because all I see here are posts of people having puppy blues all over again during adolescence. I’m preparing for the worst with my current 17 week old. My last 2 dogs I feel like didn’t have any regression or behavioral issues during their adolescence but both were over a decade ago and maybe i’m just not remembering any of the hard times. Does anyone have any good experiences with their adolescent pups to share?

  • What are some important commands that every pup owner should teach?

    So far I have

    • kennel up • sit • Lay • no bite • no jump • heel • stay • come

My wife and I are also potty training and while we are doing positive reinforcement when he goes outside he still seems to not grasp that he should go inside. He’s still very young (only 9 weeks old) will being fully potty trained just come with time?

    Thank you

  • Bragging on my girl for a second!

I’ve had my girl (a mix of 23 breeds) since she was 9 weeks old, and she’s 6.5 months now. She’s great – potty trained, crate trained, smart, not reactive, sweet, sassy, all the things. She has started doing something that I’m really proud of: when we’re at the dog park or if she sees another dog in public, she has started laying on her belly with her head down. She lets the other dog approach at their own pace and she never jumps up unless the other dog initiates play. She lays calmly while they approach and decides between play or a quick sniff based on how they act. If they don’t seem interested in playing or sniffing, she’ll stand up and carry on. I didn’t teach her this, so I’m impressed that she has that instinct in her. It’s like she’s saying “I’m safe and friendly, and I wanna play if you do!” 😂

(This isn’t stalking body language, which I know needs corrected if that were the case)

  • Dog hides his treats all over the house and never touches them again?

If we give our dog (7) an edible chew toy or dental sick, he wanders all over the house with them before finding a spot to "bury" it under furniture or blankets. He then never touches them. If we "find it" for him, he'll start the entire cycle all over again. I believe he intends to eat them at some point, if we offer him something he doesn't want (skin of a green apple wasn't popular), he just leaves it on the floor.

    What is he waiting for?
