  • I just need some words of encouragement

We have a 7 month old Doodle mix that we adopted when she was 14 weeks old. She's always had a lot of puppy energy, but is very smart and pics up training easily. But holy cow this teenage stage is no joke. She's reverted back on basically every skill except potty training, luckily she's good with that still. She's become more reactive to people and other dogs, she's biting like crazy again, she's pulling me off my feet on walks, forget about settling during the day! On top of that, I work nights and she's reverted on her crate naps and whines the whole time while I'm trying to sleep. Not going to give her up, but I'm starting to resent her and regret ever adopting her.

  • Is it okay to let my puppy be scared during socialization?

My pup is 11wks old and a very sweet boy but oh my goodness he seems so frightened of everything! We have gotten to the point where car rides come without whining (it was really bad when we started) and he can handle pet stores really well when I am holding him. However, when I try to take him on walks around the neighborhood he truly wants zero part in it. I’ve tried to get him to follow me with treats but he refuses, so I usually just end up walking around holding him to show him its not as scary. We also practice sitting in my driveway and watching things go by, during this he whines almost the whole time. Today I am taking him to Lowes to ride around in a buggy but I don’t want to traumatize him or make him further scared. I am stuck between not wanting him to be too uncomfortable while going out but I also do not want to keep him in such a comfort zone that he has no socialization training. Please send some advice!

  • How do i stop my dog from licking and constantly messing with his genitals?

so I have a dog he's about a year old and hes going to get fixed soon. He doesn't have any contact with intact female dogs but also hasn't hit that phase where he humps everything.

However since he was like 6 months old he keeps licking his genitals and even when we try to train him to stop he just doesn't listen at all. And this has escalated to him now essentially sucking himself off.

We have taken him to the vet several times and they say there's nothing wring with him down there And that he's healthy. He's up to date on all of his shots and everything. Its just weird when he constantly wants to lick his balls all day. He gets plenty of exercise and enrichment. He gies outside and plays and runs. He has toys inside to chew on and play with and i walk him on the leash alot.

Will he grow out of this? Is this something we have to train out of him?

  • What games and toys for a senior

I have a 12 year old senior Pekingese mix. My family didn't really play with him so he doesn't really know how it's like. He has a ball and loves it, but he will rarely play alone.

Are there any toys and ways to have fun together? What would you suggest?

  • puppy is reacting to random noises, shadows, and reflections helpppp

Hi! My puppy just turned 4 months and for the past 2-3 weeks she’s been much more reactive and sensitive to sounds than before which I know she’s going through another “fear period” and it’s normal.

Can I please get tips on what helped your puppy calm down a bit and not bark at everything?

She seems to react most to sounds but it can be randomly sometimes. Sometimes I don’t know exactly what she is reacting to. She also seems to have issues with shadows or reflections sometimes.

I am currently using desensitization videos and when I find her reactive I wait for moments of calm to reward.

  • Aging doggies

I have 3 bichons ages 14,13,13. They’re all pretty much elderly- 14m pees and poops on his bed but still eats drinks & meanders. 13m eats, drinks, meanders. 13f same. They all are scratchy- you know the smell that comes w old dogs. I just don’t know how to help them with these days. It’s sad.

  • Puppy pad advice

I am baby-sitting for 2 elderly dogs long term. They’ve been with me for a couple of months now. They are both about 13 years old, under 20 pounds, mixed breed (I’m not sure if that matters, but just in case.)

They are mostly house broken and use puppy pads fairly well, but one of them has a habit of shredding the puppy pad after urinating on it, sending dog urine confetti all over the living area.

I work 12 hour shifts, so with my commute, it’s a 14-hour day. I cant have a dog door because of my cats, hence the puppy pads. It ends up being a lot of urine confetti at the end of the day.

Is there any trick to stop the shredding of the puppy pads? I’ve grown very weary of cleaning that up all the time.

    Thank you.

  • Do you buy toys in colours dogs can see? Or does it not matter?

I remember as a kid in the 2000s, I heard in documentaries that red was one of the colors dogs could see like humans. So, rule of thumb was to buy stuff in red.

I've since learned that dogs can't process red. Dogs are dichromatic, effectively red-green colorblind. They can see yellow and blue, but not colors like red or purple.

Do you buy according to how dogs see the world? Does it make any difference or is it purely for you?
