  • BarkBox alternatives that actually still come in a box?

Hi all! Looking to get my pup her first subscription box, and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for BarkBox alternatives that actually arrive in a box? It may seem like a minor thing, but my girl has developed a recent obsession with cardboard (we monitor her when she plays with it and take it away as soon she starts pulling off pieces, lol), and so I know she'd love the box the items come in just as much as all of the goodies inside of it. Even better if they have a super chewer option, as she obliterates toys.

I've heard of Woofbox before. Does anyone have any experience with that?

  • Pee pads for shih tzu/pomaranian mix while at work?

I have a 10 year old shih tzu/pomaranian mix. While me and my wife are at work he sometimes pees on our hardwood downstairs (I don't blame him, its a long time to hold his pee). But its begun to warp our baseboards/entertainment center. Is there something I can do to prevent this? Would putting pee pads in his usual pee spot help? Thanks

  • Favorite Harnesses?

I’m really trying to take my dog out on more walks but she pulls so much. I know part of the solution is to train her but I also want a better harness for her. No use in trying to train her if I can’t even get a few steps in with her. We currently use a Barkbay No Pull harness, and I have my issues with it. She’s a beagle lab mix so she has a more athletic build but a small head. The harness fits oddly and it’s difficult to tighten or loossn to get a better fit. I like the front clip, but I feel like because of either the fit or the design, the normal clip in the back is more comfortable for my pup. I’ve heard things about EasyWalk, but I’m unsure if that’s the harness that’s supposedly bad for their joints? I just want one that is easy to adjust, has a front clip so I can redirect her when she does pull, and is comfortable for her.

  • Need recommendations for a cozy cave for an anxious Husky

Hey all! I’ve got a rescue Husky who’s in need of a new bed. Her current one is a rather large, stiff and tall cave. She absolutely loves having her dark little cave to hide away to, so I’m seeking something with a bit more structure, but I’m struggling to find may options other than burrowing beds. She’s never been a fan of blankets, hates having anything on top of her, and as a double-coated lover of cold temperatures, I don’t think she’d be a huge fan of burrowing beds.

This looks to be some variation of her current bed which is pretty decent, but the foam base is lacking some of the comfort that she loves in her non-covered beds. I’d love to find her something covered and comfortable at the same time!

    Her current bed:

    Would really appreciate any tips!

  • Never had a pet, looking to adopt American foxhound

For starters, I’m a young adult who’s never owned any pet besides maybe a goldfish 20 years ago.

I’ve purchased a townhome with a smallish backyard, I work from home and have no kids and plenty of time and attention to give.

I’ve been looking on pet finder and have fallen in love with a 3 year old American foxhound in need of a home. Any advice before I fully go through with it? I want to ensure my home is the best for her before I inquire.

  • My dog cries when she gets her squeaky toy.

I recently got a dog, and I’ve had her for about one month, almost two. She is a 5 year old Cocker Spaniel. I also recently found out that she isn’t spayed, so I’ll be taking her in soon to get that done.

This is my first dog, and she is the sweetest thing ever. However, when she gets her squeaky toy, she cries whenever it squeaks. She will lay down with it and even sleep with it.

She NEVER tries to bite me or anything if I take the toy away. She just sits there and looks like she’s asking for it back, so I don’t think she’s resource guarding it. I did take it away one time because I wasn’t sure what was going on, and she seemed kind of panicked and was looking everywhere for it.

Should I be concerned, or is it normal for dogs to cry with toys?

  • Need advice for an aggressive chewer

Our 2 year old mixed breed chews anything and everything when he's bored. He'll even do it right in front of us. He has a particular attraction to wood trim. We've tried the bitter apple sprays, chew toys of all types (elk horn is his favorite), toys, regular playtime and he's even got a buddy dog who doesn't behave this way. Any suggestions?

  • How to cope when your dog isn’t feeling good?

I’ve had my havanese, Pennie, for 8 years. A few weeks ago she tore her acl and needed surgery. The vet kept her for a week after the surgery and I finally got to take her home today.

The problem is though I can’t handle when she isn’t feeling good. When she’s depressed I’m depressed, when she’s in pain I’m in pain. It’s driving me crazy seeing her so limited and stitched up and needing care. I just don’t know how to cope with all of this. I know her care instructions and everything I more need advice with my own mental health in reguards to her not being at her best.

  • Joint Protecting Rug? Mat?

Do they make padded pet-washable rugs that can help absorb shock when a dog jumps off the couch? My couch isn’t super tall and my 3 year old lab usually will step on/step off, but when he does jump I’m looking for something that will take some of the impact and remove the sliding on the tile when he is excited.

  • How to get my dogs to play nice

Hello friends, my girlfriend and I got a 6 year old beagle mix (Max) rescue about a year ago and he had bad anxiety. We recently got a 6 year old Husky mix (Echo) for a companion for his anxiety and it has really worked to calm him down when we are not home. Max has always been good around dogs and has not been aggressive but seems to have never learned how to play. Echo tries to play with max and Max plays for a bit, but seems to get nervous and either growls and snaps or tries to hump which makes echo mad. It has only gotten bad once where I had to step in. Max takes trazodone when we are gone to keep him calm but I am worried about it escalating when I’m not home. we have a camera and they sleep all day when we are gone and have plenty of cognitive toys. Max is also food aggressive and we keep them separate when they eat. Echo seems to know boundaries and backs off when Max is protective over toys. How do I teach them to play nice and respect boundaries?
