  • My bitey cockapoo puppy

My 13 week old cockapoo won’t stop biting. HES a sweet boy most of the time but the biting is unbearable. He lunges for our feet every time we move and it hurts. Redirecting, ignoring, nothing works. we heard holding his mouth might help but idk. I really need some good advice that’ll work. I’ve tried everything social media advices. I tried crate training this week and metal stimulation. He can’t go on walks yet so he has too much energy. Today he bit my mom because we thought he was choking on a toy. I’m trying to prevent resource guarding in the future. The vet told us he was going to be about 12 lbs when fully grown, but he was 8 lbs at 12 weeks. I just need some advice.

  • Socialization while WFH and not many visitors

I work from home, I also am in a relatively new city and do not have many visitors at the moment and there is a dang snowstorm! The snow will subside but causes issues periodically with getting her out to slowly desensitize her. I seem to have a situation that is making it difficult to socialize my foster fail. She is a 7 month old potty mix I’ve had for 1 month. She’s not reactive to dogs but does bark at people. She doesn’t lunge or growl and just barks and cowers. I of course don’t want this to turn into extreme reactivity. I did hire a really great trainer through my rescue but aside from my trainers advice curious what other folks may be doing. I was looking into have a go walker come over and get slowly introduced to her using the right/recommended protocol but unsure!

  • Constantly have anxiety

Good evening everyone! 9 months ago I got a puppy. The night before picking her up I was so incredibly anxious and didn't sleep well at all. Still had anxiety all the way to pick her up, and it continued to escalate rapidly when we brought her home. I ended up having a panic attack the week after having her home. My parents (Bless them🙏) took in my puppy until I could get a handle on whatever was making me feel so incredibly anxious. She came over every day then went to sleep at my parents. Still the anxiety lingered like a spider web clinging to you now matter how much you try to remove it! Eventually I pinpointed what was the reason for all of it. I hate change, and I lack structure and routine. I'm autistic and Adhd so abrupt change sends me spiraling unfortunately. (Wish I had realized this before hand…) I want to bond and have my puppy at my house full time but it still gives me so much anxiety that I start thinking about the possibility of rehoming her. But that scares me more than having her…if that makes sense. I hate feeling this way and she is such a good girl and so goofy and great with my husband and 9 year old daughter. It would break them if I was to rehome her. So, my question is, has anyone ever been in my situation?!? Is there a end to this stupid and pointless anxiety?!?

  • Flirt pole help my puppy like walks?

I live in an apartment complex and my dog hates it outside. He will not go for walks. He’s about 4-5 months and is just scared of everything outside. I hand feed him and train him in front of my door, sit outside with him, but nothing it’s working. I hired a trainer but I don’t think he will progress ☹️. I’m at my wits end. He currently uses the potty on my patio and I’m tired of cleaning it and changing the pads. I tried the grass patch and he just ripped it up. What’s weird is that he will use the potty on grass at my mom’s house! While this complex is dog friendly, it isn’t set up for dogs. I wonder if he feels a bad vibe here? I find it depressing because it’s all concrete. My lease is up in AprI’ll and I can’t not wait to move 🙁

Back to my question lol sorry dealing with the puppy blues here and needed to vent! Will playing with a flirt pole help him get excited about the outside?

  • Anyone gone on a road trip with a puppy?

Context my puppy will be 4.5 months old almost 5 months when we go. She’s used to being in the car 1-1.5 hours at a time our trip is about 4.5 hours.

She usually naps 4 hours and she’ll be in the carrier, I plan to take 1 break so she can walk a bit on her leash and pee.

Was wondering if anybody have tips or think this is ok?

  • how to look after dog when you have the flu?

I 17m just caught the flu from my twin brother. I have a 16 week old dachshund puppy and while hes been able to not look after her while he's ill now im ill and the primary caregiver I have to watch her. my mother is only willing to watch the dog alone about and your a day and for the rest I have to watch her either alone or with my mother as I know if I don't she'd be crate for alot of the day.

we have a baby gate that keeps her enclosed in one room but since she's a mini dachshund she can squeeze out, because the rest of the house isn't fully puppy proof and she eats anything she can find you have to chase her out which is hard to do at the moment. ive been crating her when she does it and thats reduced the times she does it aswell as she listens to here but sometimes she gets really stubborn.

any advice how to handle this when I can barely move?

  • Good smelling clean shampoos

Does anyone have recommendations for a good smelling dog shampoo that’s pretty clean or hypoallergenic? We tried the Burt’s bees oatmeal one today and it really just enhances the wet dog smell!

  • Beware The Bully Stick

Note to literally everyone with a new puppy: Don’t let your brand new puppy eat a whole bully stick in one night. This should have been common sense for me. It wasn’t.

That thing does, in fact, have calories and loads of protein. If your puppy is not used to it, it can and will cause your puppy to have the runniest poo you will ever see. Let my mistake be your lesson, please. My nose will never forget.

  • 2 days with puppy and I feel helpless

I am writing this post as I am sitting next to my puppies crate crying my eyes out, trying to comfort her, I don’t know what to do and feel like I made a mistake. She has been whining for an hour.

Two days ago my boyfriend and I found a post about an 11 week old black lab and we instantly knew we found our baby. Shes the cutest. Yesterday was her first day home and it was amazing. She is extremely smart and trainable (can already sit and lay down on command) and we knew we wanted to crate train. Well the first night went AMAZING she went to sleep in the crate around 7pm, woke up at 11:30pm, I took her to potty, back in the crate, settled within 20 minutes with minimal whining while i sat next to her crate. Stayed asleep until my boyfriend left for work at 4:45am and then we were up for the day.

Tonight is a completely different story… wanted to put her to bed later because I am the one getting up with her and I don’t go to sleep until around 10:30. She took a nap from 6:45-7:30 in her crate no whining went into crate on her own to lay down and nap.

I then go take her potty and my sister came over and we played and played and played to tire her out. Let her go to her crate at 9:20 and the whining was nonstop, I took her to potty and she peed, then back to crate, she was reluctant this time though but I rewarded her for going to her crate. it is now 10:20pm and she is still whining, I do not feed into the whining but if I completely ignore her she howls and throws a fit (I live in a duplex)… I am at a loss. I don’t know how long it is going to take to get her in a routine and don’t know if I made the right choice, I need advice and encouragement because she’s such a good girl but I can’t function on 9 hours of sleep the past 48 hours.

  • Toy Recommendations?

My dog nephew is a large sized dog who I very rarely get to see, but love dearly. We get to see him this Christmas and I want to get him a few toys. He has some medical issues, so his toys can't involve treats. Any recommendations re: toys for this very good boy? TIA.
