11 week old has a bladder of STEEL
Picked up my puppy a week ago, and have totally flopped on the potty training.
She can hold it for SO long. She woke up at 6 AM this morning, and after I fed her I took her out of her crate every 20 minutes to pee. My partner took over at 8 AM. When I rejoined him at 10 AM, he told me she had got the best of him. He had let her into her indoor playpen, and she had gone on the kitchen floor.
The last time she went was last night at like 7 PM! I’m impressed and so, so, tired.
It’s been a week and she’s peed outside probably 3/25 times. It’s cold here, so I get it, she prefers the nice and warm kitchen. My last puppy would pee on the hour rain or shine and was a breeze to potty train, so this has been a tough week of rude awakenings.
We’re going to be stricter about no playpen until peeing, and keep a whiteboard of when she goes so we can hopefully establish a pattern. I’m wondering if letting her play outside before pee is a bad idea and we should keep it boring, because obviously she wants to play when she wakes up, and is very upset that she has to go back in her crate for hours and hours.
And if anyone has any other advice, or even just reassurance, I would appreciate it!

new puppy in bed or next to bed??
Hello everyone!
So I am very excited to welcome in my new mini dachshund puppy in 2 weeks! I am planning to have him sleep in my room. Originally I wanted him to sleep on my bed, but I don't want to take the chance of waking up to a pile of pee next to my head lol. I confirmed with the breeder that the puppies started out on pee pads, but they are learning to potty outside until they are ready to go home.
I am planning to sleep downstairs with the puppy in a crate next to me for the first week and take him outside to pee/poop 2x during the night. The second week, I'm going to let him sleep in the crate in my bedroom, and take him out 2x a night until he can reliably sleep through the night without needing to go. Then, I was going to transition him to sleep with me in my bed. I really really want to just start out with him sleeping with me, but also I really don't want any accidents bc it's a pain to clean bedsheets and things. I was also thinking maybe i could put him in a playpen in my bedroom at night and have a pee pad in there in case I can't get him downstairs fast enough to go outside and pee.
tldr; I want to slowly transition my dog from sleeping in the crate downstairs > sleeping in the crate in my bed > sleeping in my bed. Do you think my plan is a good idea? Any tips?
Quick FYI: I've had previous dogs before so we do have experience with potty training. However, our last puppy (may he rest in peace) was such a gem. He slept on the floor next to the bed and we just draped our hand over the side of the bed and he slept thru the night, no issues, no accidents. I understand doxies are harder to potty train, so I just want to be prepared!!
