Held a tad hostage – GR 5m
Hi guys,
Little conundrum. I have a very FOMO GR, who will not sleep one iota when out of his crate. However, when in his crate, he is fine when we are working or out of the house and will sleep.
When we are in the house, however, doing chores ir generally existing. He wont sleep at all. He will just bark and whine all the while.
Its difficult because he needs his sleep and needs his routine. But it tends to go to hell on a weekend.
We've tried just leaving him to bark it out but it just turns into continous whining.
He gets plenty of play/walks/mental stimulation. B4 anyone goes down that route, 2 30 minute walks, kong toys, hide and fetch, training etc.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.

Please help ! My 6.5 puppy has been waking up middle of night
My puppy is 6.5 month old and has ALWAYS slept through the night in her crate. Last 3 nights she has been getting up at 1 am for no reason. No pee. First night , my husband did offer her water then she settled after that and since then she has been getting up at 1 am for no, running to get water and then will eventually settle. She will get up the same time at 6 am. Will this be temporary? Has anyone gone through this ? How do I stop this and go back to her sleeping through the night?

Overly friendly puppy & house guests
Hello again! Our 14 week old golden/berner is very friendly and loves everything and everyone. Out in the wild she’s pretty polite and very sweet when meeting people.
At home it’s like a different dog though. Day to day she already is a lot more hyper in the house even with a lot of mental stimulation and the appropriate amount of physical exercise. But when new guests come over it gets amped up to max capacity lol. Tonight our guests had dogs and this made it way more intense since they don’t seem to really have the same play style and she was getting frustrated they wouldn’t play with her.
I had her in the crate when they originally all got here and they met outside in the yard. Then we tried just having a lead on her in the house that we could catch onto if she got too crazy for them. The first part she eventually calmed down and chewed on a cow ear. But this second time out of the crate is the witching out and I am currently sitting on the floor thinking how I can do this differently so she feels calmer, because this is intense.
Our house has a lot of people coming in and out since we have a lot of friends in the area. I want to know what I can do to help her settle. We are teaching her place but she’s 14 weeks old and her attention span is not there yet.
Any tips on what I can do? Heads up she is not food motivated at all, and our guests are staying here tonight so they’ll be here till tomorrow morning.

Putting puppy to bed before I am ready for bed
My girl is 15 weeks and does so good for bedtime. We go to sleep at 8-8:30 every night and I go to bed with her as I work early mornings. We get up at 4:30 and she whines to go potty at about 3am or sleeps through the night. Her crate is in my room with a cover over it so she can’t tell if I am there or not.
I had a friend over the other night and we strayed up after I put her to bed in her crate. She was whining like crazy and was getting up every two hours whining to be let you.
We were definitely making some noise on the other side of the house but I have other people in the home and she has never been bothered by the noise. During her naps I can do whatever around the house and she does not make a noise.
I would love to be able to be able to have people over later on the weekends for a few drinks and laughs. I just feel awful that this is how it went the first time I tried. I still got up with her at 4:30 the next morning. Nothing was different but he not being in the room with her.
Maybe she was just having an off night? If not how do I fix this?

Demand Barking At My Other Dog
My puppy demand barks at my other dog to initiate play and also during play. I understand there will be play barking, but any ideas to curb the demand barking toward my other dog when it’s out of control?
My other dog gladly plays with her when she barks, so she’s reinforcing the barking. Thank you.

Do I need a crate? Or is a playpen enough?
We have a 11 week old who has a crate inside a playpen set up. She naps fine in a bed in the playpen, but doesn’t love the crate. We did a bit of crate training to begin with but she would never voluntarily go in the crate and it didn’t quite sit right with me to shut her in.
I’m wondering if we even need the crate? She sleeps all night on a wee bed, doesn’t toilet overnight and naps there while we are there during the day? I know she may need a crate later on in life for medical stuff but right now, she is comfy and seems happy enough without it. Long term, we’d like her on a bed in our bedroom but right now she’s downstairs in the living room in her playpen.
When we leave, she has a kong or lickimat and then happily settles for a sleep – I am surprised daily by how chill she seems to be and I’m scared to mess with a good thing but she seems happy?

deshedding tool
i've recently bought a deshedding tool for my pomeranian and did some research on them. i read that they can irritate the dogs skin so i shouldn't do it too much. any good routine suggestions? should i reduce the deshedding to just few days a week since its kinda hard to tell when i should stop and i dont wanna do it too much? obviously id continue with a normal brush daily. just looking for some advice to keep my doggy's coat nice thanksss

I pet my dog so hard she entered a trance
I had a super long petting and praise session with my dog (think several minutes of me vigorously petting her and singing her songs) and my dog entered a trance like state. She just laid on the floor staring straight ahead for at least 10 minutes. Normally when I finish a petting sesh I get little tail wags or noises asking for more.
After at least 10 minutes she sat up and asked for more pets lol
