  • Puppy waking up at night again (1 y/o)

My puppy is just under 13 months old and has started waking up at night again. It’ll be about 3am I’ll hear him barking from his crate, I’ll go down to the room and say “shh” and he’ll immediately stop and won’t bark and go back to sleep – so he doesn’t need the toilet!

Before this he’d been sleeping through the night since three months old apart from a week period in January when there was a nearby fox making mating calls every night for a week, but I haven’t heard the fox anymore since this behaviour started again a couple weeks ago.

Is there anything that could be causing this or anything I could do to be able to sleep through the night again?

  • 8 month old cavapoo randomly regressing in potty training?

We’ve had a toy cavoodle for 7 months or so, in August 16 we got him he was 9 weeks. He acclimated to outdoor potty really quick, and apart from 7-8 mistakes in the first week has been peeing and pooing on the grass outside for months. Until last week.

He pee’d once in our hallway corridor, and we were stunned but thought maybe it was an error or he really had to go. Again he hasnt made an incident since he was 10 weeks old, so we just put it down to an error. The next day he poo’d outside in the morn, then an hour later did a small poo in the corridor again? Like just a tiny one? We used odor remover in both these spots as well.

Today, i took him outside as usual. He played around whatever for 15-20 mins. Usually he would pee and whatever but he didnt. I even held up a watermelon and said ‘potty’ and nothing. So assumed he didnt have to go. Normally if he has to go he’ll pee immediately then play around/

We come back in, and within 2 minutes he literally pees in that same corridoor spot? i immediately grabbed him and put him in the grass. then we carried him to the pee spot and said ‘no!’ and put him back in the pen

we’re absolutely stunned and this is really demotivating. for the next 3 days we’re gonna leave him in the pen and carry him between crate/pen/outdoors. We’re also gonna reward outdoor potty/poop again on the grass with small treats.

Could it be marking? We have an appointment with a vet in 2 weeks for planning his desexing surgery.

  • 12 week old puppy peeing in sleep

My puppy has been at my house for almost three weeks now, the puppy sleeps in my bed with me and our other dog. The past week, the puppy has flipped over onto his back, passed out fast asleep, and started peeing all over himself, on his belly, on the bed, and my pillows (😍my fault for having him in the bed I know) dead asleep. Tonight I woke up to the smell of urine and I look over and this little shite is belly up fast asleep peeing like a water fountain all over himself. This is my 4th puppy- in three years… I’ve never seen this before. Has anyone else had this experience and any tips or tricks???

  • Cooling down.

As the title stated I need help keeping my dog cool. She's a German shepherd Siberian husky mix and I live in Alabama. So it gets hot here. To give some information I get her groomed with the Furminator at petsmart to help with the double coat. I also have a brush that I brush her out with as much as I can everyday. I've looked into cooling mats of all kinds, cooling blankets and recently discovered cooling collars. I had to cross off several from the list because they contained gel that didn't list ingredients or I saw reviews saying peoples dogs got very sick. And I'm poor. I do my absolute very best taking care of her and in doing so I couldn't get something knowing it could possibly make her sick and then die because I don't have the money to save her. Currently I'm looking at water activated mats but they were 120+ for her size since she's quite big. Obviously I'm aware having a big dog comes with problems like this. And I could eventually save the money and be able to get it before summer. But I just wanted to reach out and ask because there's plenty of people who know lots more than me and theres no shame in asking for help. For the in between of me getting the mat if that's what I choose I think I use frozen water bottles on her feet and stomach (obviously she can get up and move away if she doesn't like it) and maybe even this blue cloth in the freezer for keeping your neck warm (I'll have to look at the ingredients ofc). Anyways I would appreciate any and all help, links, and information you have to give.

P.S. She's like 60 lbs if that matters

P.P.S I'm aware I'm poor I don't need messages about possibility rehoming her. The house stays 72° but she and myself just seem to stay hot (she doesn't really pant often after getting fixed. I think her hormones made her run hotter.) If I ever couldn't afford her I would be the first on my hands and knees begging my vet to take her in.

P.P.P.S I do have some kind of flooring (I don't remember what it's called) that stays cool and she does like it when she gets too hot. So it's not like she's suffering with no where to go.

  • Is it normal for my dog to groan every time I try to move her

My dog is five years old and she does this thing where every time she plops down she sighs like an old man, but I started to pay attention and every time I try to move her when she’s sleeping or even just laying down she makes this loud like groan or like a throaty whine, and stubbornly refuses to move. It’s in no way a growl and I think it’s recent (and by recent I mean she could have been doing it her whole life but I just never noticed), could this indicate pain or she just being stubborn?

Besides this she’s genuinely happy, and active and I have noticed no other changes in her behaviour

  • My dog wants to stay outside during a storm.

My 5 year old German Shepherd/Husky male dog usually sleeps inside. He has a bed in the corner of my room and usually just gets in his bed and plays with his toys or watches TV while I sleep. He goes potty outside before I go to bed and might wake me up once if he has to go potty. My issue is that it's storming (driving rain and wind, in the low 40s) tonight and he doesn't want to stay inside. He has a covered dog house outside with a bed inside of it. It's supposed to drop into the high 30s. I've let him out 3 times now. The first 2 times I thought he just needed to go potty. The 3rd and 4th times, he went into his dog house. I couldn't sleep knowing he was out in a storm, so I just brought him inside again. Has anyone experienced this? If so, what did you do? At this point, it's almost as if he's playing a game.

  • Is this normal?

I thought that my dog is lazy even though he loves going outside and exploring. But the issue im having with him is that he (2yo, mixed breed) doesnt do or barely does anything at home when hes not outside.

Hes not interested in toys, any kind, treat related toys, lick mats (havent tried meat patee tho), only likes pig ears to chew. Believe me i bought and tried maybe a dozen different toys. So because his interests are so limited he only sleeps after a morning walk/dog park until its time to go outside again. Even in dog parks he only moves if i move so i have to throw around treats.

The only things i find he likes are walks, dog parks, other dogs, treats, sniff matts (because of food), pig ears.

Is this normal? What should i do to make him more active and interested in toys/chews/etc.?

  • Has anyone bought a second dog to help their first dog with separation anxiety?

There are one or two days each week where we don't have much choice other than leaving our little fella at home by himself for 8 hours or so and he doesn't like it. He's gotten a bit better with training and maturing a little but still tends to chew stuff and try to escape a bit. He is very social and loves playing with other dogs, so I'm wondering if he had a mate if this would help any. I'm sure this is a bad idea though right?

  • Rescue dog is scared to to on walks

Me two years old rescue dog is scared during walks. I have had her for 4 days now. I take her on 4 walks every day, at roughly the same time. Same route every time I give her treats during the walk and talk to her and give her pets. I also keep her on a short leash. The walks are about 10 minutes tops.

Noises make her nervous but she’s really spooked by strange dogs. I will pick her up and carry her to safety and continue our walk. I try to finish the walks because I hope the successful walks will help grow her confidence. When she’s too scared she can’t go to the toilet and sometimes she keeps it up for over 24 hours and does in the house. She looks miserable and guilty whenever she does

When she does I immediately say “no” and pick her up and take her outside and continue her business, which she does and I praise her heavily for it. I never punish her. She’s comfy and happy inside the house.

She grows more confident after going potty or having a good walk, but every time something goes wrong (seeing a scary dog) she seems to regress. Patience is not the issue here, but I really want to know if I’m on the right path. I don’t have a yard I can take her in. What if she grows more miserable with me, I don’t want to rehome her but I don’t want to make her unhappy either. I’m terrified of accidentally traumatizing her, honestly literally crying as I’m writing this.

I love her so much already. Sorry for blabbering on here I just don’t know what to do.

    Advice is much appreciated.

So my 3.5 yo Rhodesian ridgeback is giving what looks like whale eyes while im giver her pets after she asks for them, im confused because I thought whale eyes were a sign of distress and a warning to back off but when I stop petting her she gets mad at me until I pet her again, genuinely so confused by this. Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA
