  • Recently adopted puppy – potential aggression issues

It will be 2 weeks on Sunday that I adopted a Yorkshire Terrier and is 7 months old now. He was owner surrendered with his brother and was told there was sibling rivalry. He has done great at my house and been really sweet. I brought him to my mom's yesterday and got along great with her older terrior mix. Today my puppy and I went a couple places then back to my mom's house. He growled and started to attack her terrior on 2 occasions. He sounded horrible and showed his teeth – although once involved food but not sure what happened the first time unless he was guarding me. Since we got home he has been sleeping and was clearly probably extremely tired but concerned he may have aggression problems. We were shocked at his behavior because he had been fine and seemed to like her dog. I have never had a dog with aggression issues and don't know what to do.

  • 8 month old Puppy not eating regularly

I have a 8 month puppy – Chihuahua-Small Poodle mix. She eats randomly at random hours. Sometimes she starts eating lunch at 11am and then finishes it by 5pm. 7 pm is usually when I serve her dinner and she skips that because she just fished her pending lunch. I usually feed her consistently on time but she never eats her portion in one go and she keeps eating all day little by little. She is 10lb and we have been feeding her 1/2 cup of Hills puppy kibble along with different toppers like Dried chicken, meat etc. Any idea what I can do to regulate her eating?

  • My puppy is sick and my mental health is suffering

Hi all, I adopted an 8 week old sheltie puppy last week, and I am in the trenches and fully considering giving her back to the breeder.

In the beginning, potty training was going pretty well, getting some good naps in, even the overnights were okay. Since then, it’s all gotten worse.

She developed an ear infection 3 days ago and is being treated, but she is miserable and I am miserable as well. She shrieks all night long, has lost all progress potty training; to the point that she cannot leave her playpen now, and has an incredibly hard time resting at all. I am taking her back to the vet tomorrow but I feel so lost and depressed. I think I’ve only slept 6 hours in the last 3 days with her. I have no idea what to do if we can’t get her healed quickly, I feel terrible.

  • Help me – teach me the basics

TL;DR – adopted a dog, stating my problems, and asking basic advice/ suggestions. Drop all the suggestions please.

Hey guys so it's been 4 days since I adopted COCO – SHE is a lab + dobermann mix, mix major traits of lab and just a hint of dobermann (dad) on her tail.

She is 2 months old. She is teething and I think she is actually a shark and not a dog. SHE BITES EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE IN SIGHT.

I got her a chew toy which is made of canvas fabric, a rope she plays a bit but the diverts to chewing furniture or people around her.

Please help me in teaching me the basics, no matter how basic or obvious the advice might be please type it in the comments, it'll definately me helpful.

I read somewhere that icecubes help them feel relief from their gum pain, i gave her twice she was enjoying, it. But again I am concerned what if she catches cold ? As it's winter.

I do train her the basic commands like sit and train, shes learning slowly.

She chooses to sleep in people's lap more rather than her actual bed.

What are the behaviours i shouldn't be progressing ? Like the sleeping on laps, etc.

She gets very furious whole I'm preparing food for her she DEMANDS to give it right away, it does look cute but again I don't know what behaviour is of a puppy and will go away in a couple of months and what could be carried as a part of her behaviour.

Idk if it's called litter trained but I take her out of my house every couple of hours and she sometimes pees and sometimes does not, same for poop time.

I giver her daily suppliments with a syringe (without needle), it's a TASK but she does drink all of it, is there a way to make that easier ?

  • My 4 month old puppy bit my cats tail

This morning (Christmas Day at the time) we were opening the pets stockings and I had given our four almost five month old puppy a pigs ear. He was on his bed behind the couch as I was giving the cat a treat on the window sill, which is right above his “place” (raised cot bed) where we typically feed him. He rushed over and scared the cat out of the windowsill and caught her tail as she ran away and bit off the tip of her tail😭 she’s currently at the emergency vet but I just don’t know what to do with myself. I didn’t even put two and two together about giving her a treat where we normally feed him so I know it’s probably my bad. They were literally cuddling on the couch last night. I just feel so bad and like we’ve taken so many steps backwards I could use some advice or encouragement from anyone who had dealt with a similar situation.
