  • How much food are your feeding your pup?

I picked up my puppy today (8 weeks old), and feeding him purina one puppy kibble. Breeder suggested only 1/4 of a cup , twice a day. I find that to be a small amount and feel like I should feed him either another bowl around lunch time, or up the amount for breakfast / dinner. What’s your opinions?

  • nervous something happened to my puppy at the vet

we have a 4mo puppy who hasn’t had any problems besides yk, being a puppy lol. she went to the vet yesterday to get her final shots, and started acting semi aggressive (i think?) towards our cats.

it’s not all the time, just once last night she growled (not her playful growl) at one of the cats when he got within a foot of her, then returned back to normal with him after that instance.

just a minute ago, another one of our cats went and laid right up next to her and she growled and showed her teeth, but didn’t bother moving any.

is she okay? the cats aren’t bothered by it and she isn’t trying to hurt them, but i’m still worried. and i don’t know if something happened at the vet while she was in the back, but it doesn’t seem like it since they said she didn’t even notice the shots she was getting lol

  • 7.5mo boxer mix HATES crate, but scared to leave out at night

Basically, our baby was found at about 6-6.5 months on the side of the road, and we adopted him from his foster at about 7 months. Overall, training has been going pretty well. It’s hard because we are starting so late in his age, including potty training. Crate training is not going well, in fact I think it’s becoming worse. He started by peeing in the crate overnight, so we shortened his time in the crate (from 11pm-5am). He would cry for a little and then go to sleep. However, it seems like he hates the crate more and more. We always fed him in the crate and give treats in the crate.

and now he refuses to eat if the food is in the crate. He won’t hold his pee during the day a lot of times if he’s in the crate. I think it’s separation anxiety.

I know some dogs just hate the crate, but he seems to be straight up traumatized. I’m scared to let him sleep on our bed at night though, in case he gets up and gets into something. Sometimes I’ll take a nap with him in bed. It keep the leash on so he can’t leave.

I just don’t know what else to do because he seems traumatized.

  • How to stop the ‘running way’ game?

My nearly 1 year old pup is starting to show me signs of the light at the end of the tunnel of the adolescent phase.

We've really struggled with recall and have been working on it with a long line, today, due to seeing some good improvement I let my pup off leash a bit in our yard. Mistake!

We did some play and some training and he was great and engaged but I think I let it go too long and he got bored? He started eating dirt so I wanted him to come in.

Eventually he did this thing that he has done before where he will realize its time to go in and won't want to listen at all and run away from me.

How do I discourage this behavior? We try not to chase too much, but running away from him doesn't work. We try a variety of ways to get his attention but nothing has worked reliably.

We had been limiting off leash time due to not listening when he doesn't want to be done playing or training or just sniffing about to work on recall.

    Any advice?

  • Puppy Getting to be Possessive Over Food/Treats

My almost 4mo old puppy is generally really good with other dogs. She really likes to play, so she can get in their face sometimes, but just to play, not aggression. Every once and a while (its only happened once or twice) she gets aggressive and will snap and growl if a dog tries to get something that she has – usually something like a treat ball or pupsicle.

the last thing I want is for her to become food aggressive. any ideas or tips on what I should do?

  • Puppy growling and bites at wife when she tries to bring him inside from walk or take leash off

He’s an 11 week old cardigan Corgi. I think it’s just because he is hyper and over stimulated by being outside, but he doesn’t do it to me. What do we do to fix this? He tries to go wherever he wants on the leash in the yard and my wife tries to keep lead instead of him leading, but he just gets wild and doesn’t listen and growls. When I take him outside I sometimes use the leash, but a lot of times I let him walk with me and make him stay in my view. We’re training everyday but he still isn’t the best at listening to commands.

  • Adolescent dog suddenly afraid of the bath, vet and sometimes strangers!!! Pls help!

Our dog is wells socialized and trained enough for us! We don’t need him to be an over the top obident dog; only expectations are that he listens and is friendly. He is 15 months old, suddenly will not let us put him in the bath, barking from fear when trying to lure him in. We have bathed him once a month since we got him, he was never fond but always did fine. He also now will not let the vet touch him, we’re going to try trazadone and gababpentin at his one year appointment next week to see if that helps. He also sometimes will bark and be scared of strangers which was never an issue before. Any advice on how we can reintroduce the bath in a positive way. He stinks and needs a bath

  • Fonctionnement pension

    Bonjour,
