Hello everyone! My little whippet x italian greyhound girl LOVES feet. Like if we're around her without socks on, she will try to lick our feet, and if we do let her, she will spend probably 5 to 10 minutes on each foot and will try to nibble our toes. She does it whenever but seems to especially enjoy it after a long day, and before we shower. Neither myself nor my husband have smelly feet, like you wouldn't notice if we took off our shoes in front of you even after 12 hour shift, but still, she seems to enjoy herself more. Does anyone know why feet in particular (she does not groom any other parts of our bodies to this extend) and is there any danger in licking off the bacteria that naturally occures on feet? Thank you!

Hello – I have rescued a dog, around 6 years old, a boy. I found him with an open rear leg fracture.
operated and I am taking well care of him, but I live in an apartament with my other rescue dog and I find it difficult that even after 2 weeks have passed, Freddy, how I call him now, still wants to leave and run away.
He almost ran away a few days ago but managed to catch him.
He is constantly looking out the window to run a way.
I plan on finding him a good family after he recovers, but what if he does not improve in terms of wanting to actually stay with humans and a family and not wanting to run away?
I might fun a nice familiy and they might not pay attention and he might run and be lost / killed by a car in the end.
What do you suggest I do to make him forget about his life outside and enjoy the benefits of a loving family that feeds him meat and hugs and takes care of him?

We have an inherited shizhu & he eats his own poop & sometime my collies. I’ve tried different sorts of food but he still does it. Freaks me out tbh & makes me heave. I have to keep him away from me for hrs after he’s done it. I try to get him in once he’s pooped & clear it up but don’t always have time to watch him. Any ideas why & what ideas can I try to stop him. Tried adding stuff to food to put him off eating poop but hadn’t worked.

Does your dog turn his head when he hears an odd noise? Does your dog bury their food with your pants? This is the thread to ask why.
Please keep this thread to non-medical issues only.

I realize the title sounds pretty bad, but I haven't been on a vacation in a very long time and finally found the opportunity to go to the beach. I have a 5 year old corgi and a 6 year old Jack Russell. I work from home and live in a very rural area so they don't get out in public too often. I am not too worried about the corgi as she is just a little shy, but otherwise she does enjoy being out of the house. I am much more worried about my Jack Russell who is very fearful of people and anxious outside of home. She barks at everyone and will growl if anyone gets too close. She does like hiking and being outside though, as long as no people are around.
With that being said, I have really tried to plan this vacation with her comfort in mind. I booked an Airbnb that has a private fenced in backyard and private access to the beach and we are going during the off-season so hopefully it won't be crowded. Obviously both dogs will be on a leash at all times when we are in public. I have family that both dogs love and trust who will be going on the trip with us, so someone will stay with the dogs at all times and they will never be left alone.
The drive is 8 hours, but they have been on longer car rides before. I just want to be sure there is nothing I am missing or forgetting or anything I should consider. Any advice for the trip in general, the beach, the airbnb, or the car ride will be greatly appreciated!!!

My dog’s birthday is coming up. She loves presents, so I want to get her one. She loves chew toys, but doesn’t really get many anymore because she always gets little plastic pieces off them. I also don’t want her to have any toys that could potentially hurt her teeth. The few chew toys she does have she doesn’t seem to realize are for chewing because she won’t really chew on them.
In case you need to know, my dog is on the small side (under 20 pounds) and she’s not a puppy.
