Exciting News & Advice Needed: My Dog Just Had Three Puppies!
Hi everyone!
I wanted to share some exciting news – my dog just gave birth to three adorable puppies! It's been an amazing experience watching her become a mom, and the little ones are absolutely precious.
However, I'm also feeling a bit overwhelmed. I live alone and I'm concerned about my ability to properly care for the mother and all three puppies as they grow. This wasn't exactly planned, and while I'm committed to ensuring they all receive proper care, I could really use some advice from those with experience.
Some specific questions I have:
- What supplies should I prioritize getting for the mom and newborn puppies?
- How do I manage the feeding schedule and care routine while living alone?
- At what age should I start looking for forever homes for the puppies I can't keep?
- What's the best way to find responsible owners if I need to rehome them?
- Are there any rescue organizations that might help with the process?
I'd appreciate any tips, advice, or resources you could share! And of course, once they're a bit older and I've had a chance to catch my breath, I'll definitely share some puppy photos.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Walking away when puppy is biting my ankles
So we’re trying the walk-out method of leaving the room when our puppy has a hold of our socks/trousers/ankles. However how are you meant to walk away when the door is so far and your puppy has such a hold of your clothing? I feel like I’m dragging my puppy along with me which is exciting him more

We have a 3 year old male black labrador and have just gotten a 8 week old female black labrador, but the older one is quite aggressive at the sight of her.
So we have a 3 year old male black labrador called Max who was a rescue dog who also didn't socialise much when he was younger. We got have at the age of 1 and whilst he's super gentle and trusting quickly with humans, he tends to bark and chase other dogs, birds etc.
We have a cat who he's become accustomed to over time, so we figured he would adjust just as well with a baby sister, but he's heavily aggressive around her, barks loudly, foams at the mouth, whimpers and jots around.
I assume this is normal. We're opting to keep then separated most of the time, with Max being able to roam freely around the house and maintain his routine, whilst the puppy, Minnie, is kept in our bedroom with supervision in her own space. We have a overly large cage for her, mainly for sleeping in at night, but also as a way to slowly introduce her to Max, and we are considering putting up some pet gates by the bedroom so he can see her, but also have the option to go away and come back in his own time.
I'm hoping by sharing this here that you might be able to offer some advice or pointers as to what has worked for you with similar situations, or with dogs who are equally unsociable or territorial.
Is this normal? Any advice for getting the larger dog to be more calm around seeing the puppy in the house?

Not sure what to do with my dog situation
I am in the military, live alone and not supposed to deploy or leave because of my job. 7am-3pm work schedule.
Knowing this i got a dog to keep me company. But i just got told I am being temporarily assigned to a different job working 12 hour days 4pm-4am.
I know a few people who could lend a hand every now and then but my dog would need to be walked sometime in the late night atleast once every day that i work.
I hate being in this situation i dont want my dog to be lonely or get sick from not going to the restroom.
Im afraid ill have to give her up. Is there any advice someone can give me?

Training puppy to travel in the trunk with older dog who hates the car
Hey all!
So, I have an 11-week-old puppy who does pretty well in the car right now. He travels in the backseat in a crate for now, and he just chills in there without issues.
This is not the case with my older dog, who, despite my best efforts when she was a puppy, still does not enjoy riding in the car. We give her a licky mat or a Kong, and she's pretty happy with those for the most part until she's done with them, whines, howls and scratches for a while, until she falls asleep. I'm not happy about it, I'd much rather have her be happy in the car but she just has always hated any forms of confinement. She used to travel in the backseat, but after discovering that she does much better when she can't see us humans, we moved her in the trunk, where she travels in a sturdy carrier.
Now, I'd like my puppy to also travel in the trunk. We were planning on getting a double carrier with a divider for them. Do you think the 15 minutes of chaos from my older dog will rub off on my puppy and make him think that he, too, should fear the car? I was planning on introducing him to the trunk travel on his own first without my older dog, but I still fear my older dog will scare him later.
