  • 8 month old puppy suddenly aggressive after neuter?

My chihuahua mix puppy was neutered about two weeks ago. Before his neuter, he was such a sweet boy; loved affection, played with his cat brother constantly, and was generally good meeting other people and dogs. He had a little bit of an issue with food aggression but was trending in the right direction after some training. After his neuter, he’s suddenly been very aggressive. Snaps at our cat constantly, especially when he gets near his food. He’ll be fine on certain days, acting sweet towards me and my girlfriend, then randomly switches up on us lunging and growling, and even bit my girlfriend which he’s never done before. We’re starting to get very stressed and miss our sweet boy, has anyone experienced something similar? What kind of training can be done for aggression when it’s seemingly random? Is he going crazy with boredom after resting and needs more mental stimulation? Please help!!

  • Is it normal to have puppy blues before even getting a dog?

Exactly as the title says. I have a few pets already, including a cat, and have had dogs in the past. I already feel stressed and like im about to make a mistake, even though I haven't committed to anything and have missed having a dog for a year or two now. Mostly I guess im worried I wont be able to keep up, or things like the occasional vacation will go away completely.

How do you combat this? Am I just no ready for a dog, or is this normal anxieties? Im not even sure if this is the right tag sorry

  • Am I traumatizing my puppy?

I took in a puppy from my grandparents due to littermate syndrome (the 4 were so dependent on each other you couldn't do anything with them) this started at 6 weeks old. I knew going in would hard so I baught a snuggle puppy to help the transition.

I let him wine for a little bit to see if he will soothe himself back to sleep at night, (his cage is in the living room due to smaller bedroom) in the event that he won't self soothe i put my hand in the crate without opening the door, hopefully showing him that i am still there but not allowing him to think screaming will let him out of the cage. If he continues to cry I check and make sure that he hadn't messed in the cage or needs a drink of water.

Am I doing this the wrong way? I want to make sure that he isn't scared but knows that when he is in his cage that it is ok and he is safe!

  • My dogs rolled in something so sickening I can’t put into words

The fur around their necks are wet, brown/yellow, and smells worse than any dog shit I’ve ever smelled. I thought maybe a skunk, but there is no sulfur smell, just straight hot, poisonous dragon shit. What could this be?

I live in South Alabama and my yard is surrounded by a privacy fence if that helps narrow it down.

  • Best airline / method to bring back a puppy

What is the best option to transport a new puppy via flight (of 3-4 hrs)? Driving seems a little too much for a new pup. Any advice on what airline is most amenable to this? Do we carry it in a carrier and put it in the leg rest? (I dont think a pup can go in the cargo hold).

(i haven't purchased a pup yet or have any particular one in mind; just a general question)

  • Picky Dog Training Dilemma

My puppy (miniature poodle) who is coming up on 10 months is so frustratingly picky. We have tried wet, dry, and everything in between and after a few days she turns her nose up at whatever she’s being served. I am wanting to try the method where you give them nothing else but their food at a set time and hold out until they give in. Currently, we are wanting her to eat dry kibble with broth. The thing is, I also am in the process of beginning to train her out of leash reactivity and walk anxiety. To do this I have been using Pupfords to reward her. Is there a way I can tackle both problems in the least stressful way possible? Or should I try one first then the other?

  • Dog won’t stop whining

My dog has done this for years. He whines incessantly. We have taken him to the doctor, put him on anxiety medication that he has refused to take, and tried to train him to stop whining/help with whining. He isn't in any pain, he has all his needs met, he has companionship and enrichment. Yet, he still whines incessantly. He has gotten to the point where he bites and snaps at things. My family doesn't know what to do.

  • My dog won’t walk near the assisted living facility

I live a few blocks away from an assisted living facility with all levels of care from independent living to full blown personal care living (like a nursing home). They have a nice property with sidewalks and walking trails but anytime I try to walk my dog there he puts on the brakes and refuses to walk. What do you think this is all about? It isn’t really a problem, more just a curiosity of mine.

  • is another dog feasible?

Hi! I have had dogs all my life, but only one at a time. Our current dog is 7.5 years old, absolute sweetheart, but doesn’t seem to like other dogs. I mean on walks she is definitely interested! But I do remember her meeting a puppy once and not being a fan. She wasn’t aggressive or anything, just seemed anxious and kept away when the puppy was too playful.

My aunt has a 4 year old very well trained german shepherd. She has to move out of the country this year, long story, but it sounds like she can’t bring her dog. I’ve met her dog before, also very sweet and well trained. Plus, her dog has lived with other dogs before. We both just don’t want her dog wait at a shelter forever or go to a bad home. Is this feasible for me to try? Does anyone have any advice? I really just want the best for both dogs. Thank you
