  • talking my dad out of puppy pads

my dad and I have mini schnauzer puppies (7wks) that we are trying to potty train. right now our method has been crating them at night and taking them out every two/three hours during the day. it’s been … a lot. my dad isn’t very active in trying to train them and he’s getting more and more insistent that we should do pad training because it’s “easier”.

to me it doesn’t sound easier, it sounds like more of a hassle because they’re going to learn it’s ok to potty inside rather than going outside. It’s also a mess and they’re just as likely to tear a pad up as use it to toilet on.

they are going outside! but they’re literally babies and still have accidents. nothing I’m saying to him is changing his mind, am I in the wrong? If I am tell me and if I’m not, how do i convince him that puppy pads aren’t some miraculous better option?

  • 10 week old pug chewing up pee pads

Any advice on how to stop this? I have a 10 week old puppy. He’s recently started chewing up his pee pads. I’m nervous he’s going to swallow a bunch and get an obstruction. We thought it could be boredom so we got him more new toys and made sure he had extra play time. He loves playing with one of his new toys and plays for it for quite some time. Even after that, I looked in his play pen area and there he was. Shredding his pee pad.

  • Does anyone else’s dog choose the smallest bed even when bigger ones are available?

We have more than one bed around the house, but somehow this tiny one is always the favorite. They curl up like it’s the safest place in the world. I’d love to hear if your dogs do the same thing!

  • Dog urine remover laundry detergent

My roommate's dog peed on my blanket and I can't get the smell out no matter how many times I wash it. I tried giving to my dog but he is a princess and won't use anything that's not fresh and clean.

I saw there are lots of enzyme laundry detergent available but not sure which ones actually work any suggestions????

Edit: I did not know high heat would make it worse 😩😩😩😩 so now I have that problem

  • I just realized my dogs butthole opens with each bark. I’m traumatized.

I seriously have never seen her with a eye level view of her butt and now that I’ve seen it, I’m am very disturbed. She barks a lot too. She’s also the only one who sometimes has glands that stank. Coincidence?Coincidences are gods way of remaining anonymous!

  • pet relocation help

Hi I have a dog in Guatemala, in Poptun Peten, however if necessary I can have her dropped off at the capital of Guatemala City.

She’s a 1 year old dachshund. I am looking for assistance in transporting her to the United States . Id like to know if anyone has already done the process of bringing a pet from guatemala to the states and if I can get any help or advice. What would I need to do if I go over there and try to bring her myself?

what about a company who can do it for me?

In poptun peten there’s really not much vet care if any.

There’s only 1 vet that I know of but i’m not sure if they can help.

I’m just confused about the whole process because different sites say different things and a lot of the agencies seem scammy. I just want to talk to someone who’s already done the entire process and can help me.

  • My Dog is constantly smelling her behind

My dog is a Jack Russel/Chihuahua mix. Will be 2 years old in a few months. She is always smelling her butt after every single thing. I pet her, she smells her butt. She’s laying down and decides to get up, she smells her butt, I’m talking to her, she smells her butt, I let her outside to go potty, she smells her butt, she comes back inside the house, she smells her butt, she’s laying underneath the blanket and decides to get out, she smells her butt. Sometimes she’ll be sitting down and she’ll turn her head to smell her butt but she can’t cause there’s not enough room to turn. It’s gotten to the point now that it’s annoying and irritating to see. If I see her doing it, I tell her no and she’ll stop or she’ll run to somewhere and smell her butt. She just loves smelling her own butt. I know dogs do it so they can get their scent but my dog does it way too much, every single thing she does, she smells her butt. I just want her to stop being such a butt sniffer.

  • Calming my dog down

My partner and I adopted a small mix breed (we think she is daschund mix?) dog on Christmas Eve who seems to be having issues settling down. We think she is about 1 year old, so still sort of a puppy. She is a very energetic, very smart dog who can just about get into anything. So far she is doing pretty well, but the only issue is that she seems aroused all the time. Occassionally after a long walk in the morning she’ll lay down in my lap and sleep for hours at a time, but most of the time she is pacing around the house constantly and trying to jump on tables or look for food. I know dogs can be overtired like babies so usually I try to give her a chance to settle down, maybe 45 minutes, and if she can’t I put her in her crate. I guess I am looking for hope that we are doing the right thing. She is usually pretty content in her crate. She will occasionally bark or cry for a few minutes, but settles down and goes to sleep. The second I let her out though, usually 30 minutes to an hour later she is back to pacing and jumping on furniture. I guess I am looking for hope that she will learn how to chill out. Occasionally she chooses rest on her own or chews on her nylabone (which I’m a bit paranoid because she’s a bit of a power chewer). I walk her about 45 minutes a day, we make her work for all of her food through training or puzzles. I’m a little lost as to what to do other than crate her when I can’t be supervising her. She never seems anxious, just aroused and obsessive.

  • Best Place to Recruit Dog Sitter

What’s your experience recruiting a dog sitter who can be trusted to stay in your home? I’ve had some great college students but they really don’t “get it” as far as consistency and reliability. I have an awesome home with all kinds of extras but can’t seem to find good candidates, especially for a stay over Spring Break. Thanks in advance!
