  • Bark Sound Proofing Recs?

My husband and I have 2 puppies and we live in a condo. Sometimes our little guy barks pretty loud as he’s still around 12 weeks old and we are working on it. The room that they sleep in is downstairs and I worry that our neighbors may be hearing him bark as the room backs up to another condo. All of our rooms back up to either a wall of windows and makes his barking even louder or are against a neighbors wall. I was thinking about getting sound proofing panels for that room to minimize the echo and hopefully decrease what they hear but I wanted to see if anyone had any advice!

  • Finally stopped the separation anxiety screaming (Small Win!) 😭➡️😴

My 5-month-old Golden used to scream the house down the second I touched my keys. I couldn't even take the trash out without a meltdown. I felt like a prisoner in my own home.

I stopped listening to the "just let them cry it out" advice (it made it worse) and started focusing on "Departure Cue Desensitization" (making the keys/shoes boring) and the Ghost Exit method.

It took 2 weeks of consistent work, but today I left for 30 minutes and checked the camera... he was SLEEPING. Not pacing, not crying. Sleeping.

If you are going through this hell right now—hang in there. It does get better. Don't give up on your pup! ❤️

  • 5mo puppy won’t nap and viscously bites when overtired

I'm desperate.. My 5mo lab puppy will not settle for a nap no matter what we try. Leash, covered crate, free roam, white noise, music, teaching "settle". None of it matters and now he's at the height of teething so he's extra grumpy.

When he gets over tired he barks the second I'm out of reach, but when I get close to him all he wants to do is bite me. Redirecting to toys doesn't work. Reverse time out just leads to never-ending barking.

I live in an apartment so I can't just let him bark it out.

    Please help!!

  • Puppy second vaccine

I have a 9-10 week old golden retriever. I live in an apartment complex that has a garden that also serves as dog park, as far as I know there aren't any unvaccinated dogs in my building and no stray dogs have access to those areas, and I'd like to potty train him in the grass, he's with training pads inside the apartment at the moment. We also tend to go out a lot to pet-friendly shopping malls and places.

I was advised to not let my puppy touch the ground until he's fully vaccinated but I've also seen other people say that they can go to certain areas with two vaccines, so I'm not sure what can I do. I want him to go out and socialise and I tend to carry him in my arms but he's growing quite fast and I don't know for how any longer will I be able to continue carrying him.

If anyone has any advice or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏻

  • How to Mentally Stimulate a Dog That Can’t Move

    Hi all,

My poor dog is around 10 years old and had an accident earlier this week that caused her to tear both of her back leg ACL's. Going for a walk is her favourite part of the day so I was wondering if anyone had ideas to help keep her stimulated during this time? Even things like going to the bathroom or eating require a lot of effort, so anything involving something like a kong or a snuffle mat are out. It's also winter where I live so I can't take her outside in a wagon or anything. She like toys but only really to run around with them outside. I put a couple in her bed and she mostly just uses them as pillows and isn't interested in chewing them. If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears!

  • Greenies chew removed hard piece of tartar?

I gave my dog a greenies chew the other day and a day later, I found a flat piece of what seems to be hardened tartar next to his chew toy. I found the tooth that it seems to be chipped off of, and the tooth looks undamaged underneath. I didn’t think the greenies would remove hardened tartar. Has this happened to anyone else? (I know I need to take better care of his teeth, and I discussed doing a cleaning with my vet) Would this been something to get checked out by a vet?

  • Has anyone traveled internationally with a dog in-cabin on United? How strict are they about carrier fit?

    TL;DR:

Moving internationally to Asia and hoping to fly my ~27 lb dog in cabin on United (the only airline that allows it to my destination). He fits in a United-compliant soft carrier but can’t fully stand upright. He’s very comfortable in his travel bag (we’ve done Amtrak trips successfully). Looking for real experiences on how strict United is about carrier fit, especially internationally, because time-sensitive health paperwork makes a last-minute denial a nightmare. Trying to avoid cargo if at all possible.

Hi everyone — I’m hoping to hear from anyone who has flown internationally with a dog in cabin, especially on United, or who has insight into how strictly carrier fit is enforced.

According to United’s website, there’s no stated weight limit for in-cabin pets and no explicit requirement that the dog must be able to stand up or turn around inside the carrier (unlike many other airlines). United is also the only airline that allows in-cabin pets on international routes to my destination in Asia, which is why I’m strongly considering them.

    Context:

I’m moving back to Asia full-time, so this is a one-time move, not frequent travel. My dog weighs ~27 lbs and fits lengthwise perfectly in a United-compliant soft carrier. However, he is slightly taller than the height of the bag, meaning he cannot fully stand upright, though he can lie down comfortably and turn.

He is also very comfortable in his travel bag — we’ve taken Amtrak several times, and he genuinely does well in the carrier, settles quickly, and remains calm for extended periods.

My main goal is to avoid cargo at all costs, especially for a ~15-hour flight. I’m trying to plan ahead because the international move involves a lot of time-sensitive health documents, lab tests, and approvals that take months to coordinate. My biggest fear is completing all of that, showing up at the airport, and having a gate agent deny him due to carrier fit — which would completely derail everything.

I’m trying to find the safest, most realistic option to ensure:

    • My dog can travel comfortably • I don’t get surprised at the gate • Cargo remains a last resort

    If anyone has:

    • Successfully flown internationally with a dog close to this size in cabin • Experienced how strict United gate agents are about carrier height • Tips for minimizing risk (specific carriers, documentation, check-in strategies, etc.)

I would really appreciate hearing your experiences. This has been incredibly stressful, and I just want to do right by my dog 😭🐶

Thank you so much in advance!
