  • My five month old pup played ALL day with another dog yesterday..

He literally has been sleeping all day & doesn’t even get excited about our walk this morning! Is this normal?! Lol. He must be exhausted? I feel guilty we aren’t being busy today but it doesn’t seem like he wants to be!

  • 9 month old in the bed and sometimes in her bed….confusing?

I have a 9 month old frenchie. Sometimes she sleeps in the bed with me and sometimes I move her to her bed on the floor if I’m having trouble sleeping with her. Am I confusing her? Would I better off just keeping her in her bed on the floor? I do love the cuddles in bed but sometimes I just need my space. Appreciate thoughts on this.

  • Need half with leaving 15 week puppy alone.

So two weeks ago my puppy became super clingy, ever since I can’t even go upstairs to the bathroom without him crying let alone leaving him at home.

I’ve been trying to very very slowly increasing absences, desensitising my approaching the stairs ex but nothing seems to help.

The thing is as well, on a night he’ll go int his create by himself and lay down no issues with me going up to bed.

I really don’t understand it, I don’t know why he got clingy out of nowhere.

    Any advice would be appreciated

  • Food aggression – best way to resolve it?

I've had my puppy just over a week, feeding has been a bit of a pain with him clawing at me then inhaling food in 30 seconds. I've bought a few slow feeders and rotate them throughout the day, the last 2/3 days have been better now he's starting to understand he has to sit & wait then eat

Tonight however after he'd walked away I went to pick up his bowl to which he came running back over then growled and snapped his teeth at me twice

I have a small child so we have been hand feeding, stroking through feeds etc to prevent this. Lots of conflicting advice online on how to handle this so I was hoping for peoples experience & opinions to stop this before it becomes a problem

    Thanks!

  • Chewing things in hopes of getting a treat

my puppy Cosmo is about 12 weeks old. he is very sweet and smart. he knows sit, paw, leave it, and down. only problem is, he's started chewing things he knows he shouldn't in hopes that I will give him a treat once he leaves it. to be more specific, I'm talking about his puppy pads. he will walk over to his puppy pad and chew it, then as soon as I say leave it he walks back in front of me and sits expectantly waiting for his treat. I'm glad that he knows the command so well, but I'm concerned since 1. he's not really leaving it. he's going back every few minutes and does it again. and 2. I don't want him to learn to do negative behaviors just to get treats for stopping. that being said, this may be just a normal part of the process. I just wanted to see if any of you have had experiences with something similar and if so, what did you do?

  • Puppy runs up to people/dogs, then bolts + shakes at park. Fear or normal?

My 15 week old Havanese runs up to strangers like she wants to say hi, but when they engage (reach to pet, lean in) she darts away. Same with dogs: she shows interest, may approach, but if they engage she runs off especially big dogs. At puppy class she’s the only one not playing but she watches like she wants to. She is only 3kg so she’s tiny!

Took her to a park today. She was sniffing/exploring fine, then we sat and watched from a bench. After a while she started trembling/shaking so we went home. A huge dog came up earlier and I picked her up and held her facing over my shoulder + tried to act calm and stroked the dog. The owner and I had a chat.

Will she always be fearful? Am I reinforcing fear by picking her up? What’s the best plan to build confidence without overwhelming her?

  • Hip Dysplasia? Or typical puppy?

Hi! My 4mo puppy is sitting awkwardly, and uses both back legs while doing the steps outside. Should I be worried?

  • 8-month puppy focuses on one dog at the park, won’t leave them alone – what to do

Hello, our 8-month old golden retriever has suddenly started focusing on one random dog at each dog park we go to – he is not yet neutered, just turned 8 months, and will find a random dog at the park that he won’t leave alone. Any size, any breed, not sure of their sex. But he follows them around. He won’t leave them alone. Today he followed a little terrier on top of a picnic table multiple times, keeps trying to play, refuses to pay attention to anything else. It’s going to become a problem. What can I do?

  • Megathread: Pet Insurance

Which pet insurance is best for you? Are there any that may cover your dog's current treatment? Did your dog get injured during the waiting period and want to know if you're covered?

    Here's the place to ask.

Do know we cannot help you here with medical concerns, and lying or not disclosing things to the insurance company is illegal so we don't allow that either.
