  • Crating a teenage puppy (9mo)

Hello! I have a 9 month old puppy. I work from home 4 days a week the other day he goes to daycare. He is crated at night and is fine with it (touch wood).

I used to not crate him in the day unless I was going out but he has recently started becoming very attention seeking and barking a lot. Even if his needs have been met so I have started crating him a couple hours in the morning and a couple in the afternoon. I try not to and give a chance to be calm, capture calmness etc. but am doing this as I need to get work done at some point.

My question is this normal? Is this detrimental, will he start to dislike the crate? And when will he settle more readily again outside the crate? (I don’t have this issue in the evening)

Thank you for your help, I would appreciate any advice. Also if you have or had a teenage dog recently when did you notice more chill behaviour consistently?

  • Jumping

How do I get my dog from not jumping when excited to see someone new or when I get home? We live in a rural area and not a lot of options of training near me..

  • Orthopedic Beds – Worth it or Not?

Wondering if anyone has experience with orthopedic beds, and if they found it an actual significant upgrade from normal beds? Did it provide any pain relief? Also regular ‘orthopedic’ vs medical grade ones like Big Barker. Specifically for pets with arthritis/ joint issues. Any brand recommendations? Are Big Barkers worth the investment?

Say hello to Shadow! He's my little beagle mix, and today is his tenth (10th) birthday! He got a ton of treats today, a whole extra walk, and a (attempted) birthday cake.

I just wanted to share him, please send him birthday wishes!

  • What to do: senior dog

I guess im looking to vent mostly and/or get some perspectives (not medical advice, we have been to the vet multiple times).

I have a 14.5 year old chiweenie who has been suffering incontinence issues for over a year. Like I said I've taken him to the vet multiple times and gotten the works done as far as testing goes to see if something is wrong. Nothing comes up on any tests.

Idk what to do. I'm exhausted, I have two other dogs and a baby. I'm cleaning up poop and pee from the chiweenie minimum once a day. He's become restless and whines all the time (I don't think in pain, and I've brought this up to the vet as well). They say he's otherwise healthy, looks good for his age and his heart sounds great. I think he might be losing his mind a little.

What would you do in my situation? Does this sound like we're coming to the end of his life?

  • Leash setups to walk 3 larger dogs

So I’m anticipating that we’ll be adding a 3rd dog to our household soon- it’s a dog I already know. The three dogs are between 45-65 pounds. Two of them are easy to walk, and one can require more management around other dogs, critters etc.

I know adjusting to me walking all 3 together won’t be the easiest and we will only do this in wide open parks where I wouldn’t have to worry much about managing them near roads, other walkers, etc.

I’m was looking for some recommendations as far as leash setups goes. Please don’t just say “take two walks” I know that’s the sensible option but I want the time efficient one to be an option too haha. TIA!

  • Advice for miniature daschund

    Hello guys!

Just wondering if you were able to tell me whether or not I’m feeding my little angel too much.

In the mornings I give her Blackhawk small puppy kibble. The scoops are 1/4 cups and I give her 3 of them. And at night time I give her 50 grams of prime 100 puppy roll. Please let me know if this is too much or not enough.

    Tia xx

  • I found out what the side claws are for

I've heard so often that the side claws are useless. Well, I just watched my girl actively use hers. She wanted to remove her sun glasses (we're training to keep them on longer than her red light therapy lasts with increasingly long intervals between treats, this was towards the end of the session which she found long enough). She moved her paw till that claw was behind the glasses, checked that it was locked in and then slowly pulled so that the glasses moved and she could look over the brim. Has anyone seen their dog do something similar?

  • Is my dog’s behavior considered reactive?

I have a 2 1/2 year old Shih Tzu. At the dog park, she gets along with other dogs. She ignores some and plays with others. She doesn’t bark at them.

When I take her on walks and there’s another dog approaching, she starts crying and then barks viciously. If it turns out that she gets the opportunity to greet the dog (before she starts acting out) then she is fine and doesn’t cry and bark at it.

She also acts like this when she’s in the car and sees dogs outside. When watching tv, she barks at dogs and horses on the tv.

I’m wondering if this is considered reactive behavior. I give her treats and praise on the rare occasion that she doesn’t act like that.

If anyone has any ideas on how to deal with this, I’d appreciate any thoughts or advice. Thank you
