I just bought another german shepherd puppy from the same breeders I got my first pup from. Two males. Two under two. Pray for me.

A few days ago my family and I (me, partner, 5yr old kiddo) adopted a dog thru a shelter. Almond, two years old. So she spends a hour or so with us just chilling at the shelter while we get paperwork filled out, no real issues there. Bring her home, she's fine, if just a little stand-offish. Eats and drinks little, pees/poops once a day, but we assume it's nerves and will sort itself out. We kennel her overnight (something we're hoping to eventually stop, we just wanna know she won't get into anything she's not supposed to). This morning I'm heading downstairs to pee before taking her out, and she's growling. I think maybe it's a stray cat outside, no biggie. Toilet her, bring her inside, and she is more stand-offish than usual, staying away from everyone and growling at something. Def not towards us, but nothing we can tell. So we gave her space, let her sit at her usual area until we had to leave for school/work, but she just seems off. What could be up? I'm concerned because she hasn't acted like this since we got her, and we wanna help her be comfortable.

My dogs toe nail was hanging off after my groomer tried to cut and he pulled away too quick but the groomer blamed me for not noticing in the morning.
Had to pay for grooming fee 200 + ER visit for an additional 500.
He had to get his toe nail extracted bc it was that bad.
I want to leave a Google review to let others know to go at their risk. This is a groomer I found online that had superb reviews, and she does it at her house.
Any advice?

I’m looking to get a dog 🐶 🐕 for my son’s birthday. I think this will be a good addition to our family. Do you guys have any suggestions on good first time dog breeds? I have a small back yard but of course am willing to walk etc. I’d also prefer a dog that isn’t high maintenance, doesn’t bark much, affordable, and that doesn’t get so big.

Hi guys i'm thinking of getting a dog in the next 2 years. It would be my first pet and my first dog.At first I wanted a shiba for all the classic shiba characteristics especially the fact that he is more like a cat than a dog.But more and more people said that as first dog is a no.Now can someone help me understand what breed should I choose as a first dog?

Hey guys i might need some help. Since two days my Dog ist too anxious to go for a walk in the afternoon/evening. In the morning everything is relatively fine.
There is some forestry work going on near where i usually go for a walk. You can hear machines and wood cutting, but still a little bit a way off. As soon as it gets louder she wants to go home asap and it is impossible to go for walk for the rest of the day. When we step out, she sits down and is shaking a bit. Even if i would go in another direction, there is no chance and treats are not accepted aswell.
At home she behaves relatively normal. She plays with me and eats/drinks as usual. Sometimes tho, she is laying down between my legs when im on the PC. Reminds me of the days around new years eve.
I even had to carry her a bit because there was a loud bang. In hindsight that might have been a wrong approach.
Anyone got some ideas, so that i can help her, to lose her anxiety? I dont know what to do anymore.

Which pet insurance is best for you? Are there any that may cover your dog's current treatment? Did your dog get injured during the waiting period and want to know if you're covered?
Here's the place to ask.
Do know we cannot help you here with medical concerns, and lying or not disclosing things to the insurance company is illegal so we don't allow that either.

Hello,
We have a 5 year old golden retriever and a 7 month old cavapoo.
The cavapoo has always guarded any treats we give her – she takes it and runs to the couch instead of eating it right there – but it has recently escalated. Now she snarls and growls as soon as anyone comes near the couch area, not even just near her.
The only time we take food away from her is when she eating the container itself, like the food bowl or lick mat, or when it's time to crate and she has a chew stick.
I think the guarding is coming from the golden sometimes eating her food or taking her chew stick, but she also does the same thing to him! 🙃 We always have two of everything – food bowls, water bowls, any chew toys, they both get the same treats at the same time, etc.
How can we de-escalate and reverse her behavior? We've stopped giving her treats that take a long time to eat like jerky or yak chews so she's not guarding it. But yesterday she tried to nip my hand over a blueberry 🤦🏽♀️
TIA!

Does your dog turn his head when he hears an odd noise? Does your dog bury their food with your pants? This is the thread to ask why.
Please keep this thread to non-medical issues only.
