Love, pure love

Who else has a dog who simply… well… simply loves them?

I adopted my Transylvanian hound Mason in March '25, and he'll be eleven next month.

I've never bothered to train him as he's always been a gentleman, well behaved with excellent indoor manners. And he's smart, has picked up what I want easily. I never scold or punish him, mostly going, ":Hey buddy, you know better!" and he gets it with very little repetition. He gets walked every day (the recent bitter cold and ice have curtailed it a bit).

Mostly, this dog absolutely loves me, never wanting to be more than six feet away. I've learned his mannerisms and know when he wants a skritch here or there. I don't think I've ever scolded him or had an unkind tone.

As for me? I can't help but love on him, giving him hugs and sneaking him treats constantly. My wife (whom I also love very much) is often jealous. But I point out, he's only going to be here for a few more years, so he needs extra loving.

I'd previously been a cat person, but the loyalty and love of a good dog has been inspirational to me. I'll always love my cats, but Mason absolutely has my heart.
