I’m considering renaming my dog, is it too late?

Hi, so my dog is named Ryder, and for awhile I thought that was fine and cool, however after learning the reasons why my ex named him that it's begun to to bother me. Now that I'm single and took the dog with me, I'm wondering if it would be possible to change his name now at roughly over a year old or if it would cause too much confusion. Something like Bruce (His face's markings kinda looks like a batarang) or Brick maybe?
