I bought an at-home grooming dryer for my dog and we used it for the first time today and it’s great. He is a Wheaten Terrier that mats really easily and hates being brushed (i have to wait until he falls asleep to brush him) so this is really helpful for preventing that. Only problem is he hates it. We just used it once today and he started out fine, just a little cautious, but the he started biting at the dryer. I was able to redirect him with some high value treats, but with how long it takes him to dry, he ended up eating quite a lot of them which isn’t great, especially since he has a sensitive stomach.
Does anyone have any tips for getting him to actually be comfortable with the dryer and not need to take as many treats during the process?
