We have a 4 month old cockapoo who is a very sweet little guy. My partner goes to work but I am (trying to) work from home whilst he is still a little guy.
We are working on crate training, he will nap and sleep in there but is yet to take himself in there to relax however we have a little mattress bed just outside the crate he tends to return to.
He will cry and whine quite loudly if we leave the room, we are working on training this by leaving the room and monitoring him on our cameras and when he stops crying and settles down somewhere which will happen within 30 seconds of him noticing I have gone I will come back and reward with some chicken.
We have seen definite improvement when we remain inside the house but if I try and leave the house he will absolutely not settle, I feel awful when I need to pop out to the shops or the pharmacy and the little guy is just crying his heart out!
We are trying to do the Julie Naismith training but he just can’t seem to get past us closing the door. I will need to return to the office eventually so it’s important we get this sorted (he will never be alone the whole day as we will have a dog walker or a trip to his grandpawrents).
I realise he’s still young but will this improve as he gets that bit older and independent if we continue this training? Also if anybody has any training recommendations that would be brilliant!
