Hi everyone!
I have a 4.5 month old Border Collie who is honestly a little angel aside from his separation issues.
He is healthy, friendly, sweet, and totally non-reactive to most things. However, I am concerned that he might be developing separation anxiety.
When he knows he has the option to be around me or my bf, he's totally able to entertain himself. He chooses to hang out in the backyard by himself for 20+ min at a time, does his puzzles/kongs in another room sometimes, and has 0 issue sleeping through the night in his crate, which is in our bedroom.
He is also fine when he's home alone. I have a pet camera and he mostly just naps.
However, he gets REALLY upset when access to us is revoked in any way, BUT we are still in the house. I have never gotten him to nap in his crate when I am not in the room with him, no matter how long I leave him there. He gets upset if he's left in a room by himself, and he is a total escape artist with play pens. It's like he's perfectly okay being away from me as long as he knows he can come to me if he wants, but if that option is taken away, all bets are off.
Any advice is appreciated 🙂
