Hello, all! My senior pup seems to be suffering from what we suspect is arthritis. We are taking her to the vet next week to be seen, but I’m trying to do my due diligence in the meantime.
Details:
I have an almost 13 year old shepherd/lab mix, 65-70 pounds, and we’ve noticed over the last couple of months she’s had more trouble going up the stairs, sometimes doesn’t make it when she tries jumping on the bed/couch, is slower to get up. And then this past Thursday she snapped at our other dog when they came close to jumping on her back hips so that basically confirmed the pain and we made an appointment.
I know this is part of having an older dog, and we’re certainly still consulting the vet, but I’m asking for experience from people dealing with this recently. What tests did you ask for? Supplements and/or medications that helped? Side effects/risks? She does have a history of bladder stones and so she’s on a prescription diet so we have to consider that with medications and supplements.
Any and all feedback and suggestions are welcome. I want to be well versed when I speak with her vet.
