Hi everyone,
We've had large dogs our whole lives, two in this house. We're on an acre, but no fence. Can't do a fence since we live on a giant slab of granite. We've always walked the dogs multiple times a day and I work from home, so I took them morning, mid day, and afternoon for a mile or two each time.
We are very experienced with all dogs, including very special needs ones.
It's been a while since we last got a dog, but two shelters recently told me we wouldn't qualify because of the lack of a fence.
The latest to say no was for an 8 year old, 7lb chihuahua with three legs and one eye, exclusively over the fence issue.
Is this seriously that much of a deal breaker or are these shelters getting a bit unhinged with their requirements?
