My dog as of two weeks ago has not went potty outside without full blatter pissing in my apartment hallway/ elevator. I am confused as of why. She's three years old, Fixed, and has been to the vet to be checked for any medical problems. I've tried addressing the problem when it happens by calling her a bad girl and bringing her back inside while I clean up the mess, not taking her out again until an hour or two later… I've tried not addressing the problem when it happens and trying to be extra gentle to not seem annoyed when leaving the apartment. I've tried positive reinforcement when she pees even a little bit outside. The problem is getting embarrassing especially because I live in a big community building and the door doesn't leave immediately outside. For behavior background; we don't frequently have accidents. Almost never inside unless she's feeling a bit Ill. She's a naturally nervous dog, she shakes when we're in the elevator but I can't tell if this is from anxiety, tail isn't tucked, ears are up, I don't know if she's excited or what. She never poops in the hallway or tries too. There is no sniffing before she pees, just walks out there and pees on the floor full blatter. I have tried even taking her out 5 or 6 times a day when me or my husband are home. Still full blatter peeing in the hall way every time. The positive reinforcement given outside is usually a good girl while petting her. She ignores treats outside, there's a lot happening outside my building. We have lived in the building 6 months with barely any hiccups. 2 or 3 months ago someone moved into the apartment next too us and has a rowdy young dog who pees around the community building alot, maybe it could be markingsl?
Advice would be great. I don't know how to correct the behavior.
