Metal crate with bottom removable tray

Hello

I recently bought a new metal crate with a bottom removable plastic tray.

While this makes sense to me in terms of cleaning (in the event of an accident, etc) as I can simply slide out the bottom tray, it means my puppy will be in direct contact with the top of the metal wire floor.

I doubt this will be comfortable or acceptable as a sleeping arrangement.

My question is, do people usually put some sort of bedding on the floor of the metal crate as an additional layer so their dog is not in direct contact with the metal wire floor?
