I've had my bernedoodle puppy for 4 months and he is extremely smart. I trained him on my own, and he isn't perfect and definitely overexcited a lot of the time but overall hes a good boy.
Besides recently… he turned 6 months and its like a switch flipped in him. He is peeing/pooping in my apartment multiple times a day without ringing the bell. He's biting me extremely hard and throwing toys out of his mouth to go back to biting me when I redirect… and generally just being way more destructive.
I've gotten more busy lately and hes gotten more picky. I feel like I'm understimulating him but if I train him at home he quickly gets to a point of refusing to listen, and he tries to eat literally everything so slow sniff walks are not really an option (he is ignoring me when I say drop it.) He refuses to eat because he wants to play, the snuffle mat only does so much since he just leaves the food in there if he cant easily get to it… same with a kong. He isn't into lick mats or anything of the like. if I am not directly involved he doesn't care for it.
If I take him for a walk he tries to listen for people walking by so he can lunge at them to get pets and he won't listen to commands at all… hes very aggressive with his play biting and will jump on people at full force and its so embarrassing. At the dog park, he mostly ignores me and just sniffs around and won't play with me when I bring toys like a flirt pole, ball, frisbee, etc. If anyone walks by, he tries to jump over the gate because he wants their attention instead.
It's so hard to train this part out of him especially since people keep saying "It's okay, I work with dogs" and walking up to him while he is trying to pounce, negating like all my progress every single time.
I love him so much but sometimes I just hate him the entire night…. Right now he is refusing to sleep and he is refusing to be crated. Last time I tried to crate him for a nap he threw up all of his food in a huge chunk. (He is fine being crated and will nap if I am not home)
I'm just extremely frustrated… He's my little accident puppy (not from a breeder!!) and he is the most cuddly and loving boy but the biting and humping and the constant in-your-faceness of him is slowly destroying my sanity……….. I can't even clean my apartment because he wants to be right next to me to attack the vacuum cleaner. He is only good if I am sleeping or if I'm out of the house.
