Hi, my 9-month old Chihuahua mix (12 lbs – 63% Chihuahua, 12% Cocker Spaniel) still makes it hard for me to ever relax. He's hardest to deal with after morning and evening walks when he comes back into the house and demand barks. I've tried ignoring it but it's incessant. It takes him a long time to actually settle in the evenings – lots of pacing and barking out the window. He was also just neutered this week so I'm definitely seeing some regression in behaviour as he goes through the hormonal changes and medications, but the demand barking had been an issue even before the neuter.
Do you think this is adolescent behaviour and things will get easier? I also give him lots of puzzles (treats wrapped in towels, recycling objects with treats) to keep him mentally stimulated, but sometimes I wonder if he has too much attention so he's always expecting some entertainment. Feeling a little discouraged as I've worked so hard with him since I adopted him at 3 months! I love him so much but I'm looking forward to things getting easier.
