Sudden Behavior Change. Help!

Some time within the past month my dog seems to have had what I can only describe as a psychotic break. He has become absolutely obsessed with a particular room in the house and, specifically, the trim/edge of the floor and the entryways to the room. He is sniffing incessantly. He is biting and chewing on the wood. And finally, the last straw, he started ripping off the trip itself.

He is a mixed lab and probably around 110 pounds. He’s doing a lot of damage and I don’t know wtf is going on.

He seems to have followed whatever it is that he’s set on to other part of the room as well but I have no idea what is going on.

The obvious thing would be if there was some sort of mouse in the floor or the walls but I honestly don’t think that’s it. There wouldn’t be a mouse in the tight area where the trim is that he has now ripped apart.

Does anyone have any ideas or tips? This is driving us crazy. He was prescribed anxiety pills when I told the vet. We used the for about three weeks but I was hoping we could start weening him off them. Then I saw the ripped off wood and feel like we need to figure out the core issue here’s.
