We have a 12 week old bernedoodle. She's been with us 3 weeks now. She's so great, sleeps through the night in her crate, mostly potty trained, learning so quickly, but she does not handle being alone very well. I have a routine I've stuck to every day for 3 weeks. We get up and go potty, she eats in her pen while I do a workout, chills with me in the kitchen while I make coffee, take her out one more time, then put her in her crate while I shower. She cries the whole time I shower, so loud I can hear it, and doesn't stop until I take her out. I try to wait for a break in the crying and there isn't one. Then I take her potty and play a little and then she goes in her pen while I work and she's fine in her pen, but if I get up to grab a water or go to the bathroom she freaks out. I've tried leaving for a few seconds and coming back and gradually increasing, and it does help for that day, but the next day we start all over again. She's a baby, I'm sure I'm expecting too much, it just breaks my heart every morning while I shower and I get anxiety about it. I put her in her crate with a Toppl and a snugglepup. Nothing seems to work. Any tips for helping her be happy alone?
