Tips for potty training in winter?

I got my new puppy last night. Shes 8 weeks old and i spent the first night with her in a large crate and i slept on the floor next to the crate in a sleeping bag with my senior dog also sleeping on the floor near us.

She slept right through from about 9:30 til 5:45 and only cried once when i left the room to go pee.

She had no accidents all night and pee’d on her puppy training pad as soon as i put her on it.

So far the only accidents shes had on the floor are right next to the mats so i think shes trying to use the pads but just missing sometimes.

I tried popping her in the garden to pee this morning but she just stood still trembling and crying because it was so cold and as soon as i brought her back inside she ran straight to the training mat and pee’d there.

Any tips other than getting her a puppy jumper for getting started with peeing outside when it’s freezing cold and rainy?
