Small dogs that rarely bark?

I recently rescued this small dog off the streets and we all fell in love with him. He’s a sweetheart. He reminds me so much of my last dog, about the same size, similar temperament.

They both have this trait that stands out though. They were both quiet. In the past few months, I’ve heard him bark once. I’ve always wondered what my last dog‘s breed was and his breed is a mystery. I believe both are terriers, due to their energy levels. But are there certain breeds that are just silent?
