Our 9mo cavalier has been with us for 3 months now. He's crate trained and sleeps in our room. We have a single storey house, and any other room means it could wake up the rest of the house, so can't really put him in another room. Initially woke up at 6.30am but it's getting earlier and earlier, it's 5am now.
He doesn't continuously bark and whine, but it's enough to wake us up. We mostly ignore it, once or twice we say Quiet which helps for a little bit. But, it's also getting worse, it's 6am now and he's been barking almost non stop since 5.15am. Tried quietting him, but that only helps for 2 minutes. And I also read you should ignore it, but barking for 30+ minutes doesn't seem okay to me?
We tried:
- Alarm method
- Giving enough exercise
- More active in evenings
- Going to toilet with him
- Make it darker & more silent by putting the crate in darker room next to our bedroom
We feel lost and tired. I've read many topics and not sure what to try, e.g. these topics:
