Nuances in potty training

Consider these Level 2 or Level 3 potty training questions. I have the basics down (I think).

I have had my Great Pyr pup (now 11 months) for over 7 months. Things I do currently. 1. Crate training. 2. Tethering or small area space when inside. 3. Frequently take her outside and reward for poop/pee.

Side note – she is still not potty trained, will poop/ pee inside. Different areas of the house (ie not just one spot). This happens when she accidentally gets a moment of freedom from the above practices. (Ie I get distracted and she has 5 minutes free in the house)

I am frustrated by this lack of progress but This is not what I am asking about. This thread has been so useful in getting me squared away in the basics.

My questions:

-. I am so desperate for her to go outside I haven’t focused so much on the “where” she goes outside. She seems to love to poop and pee on my travertine deck instead of the (plentiful) grass/mulch. I would love to transition her to the grass but she is really weird about the potty thing and if I try to guide her to an area she refuses to go at all. She won’t go unless she is off leash and can go where she wants. How can I get her move to grass? She’s incredibly stubborn on this topic. (I do walk her every morning and she is fine pottying on leash when we are walking but in backyard – no way)

  1. I have a dog door which she is completely comfortable with. When she is confined or tethered she will signal to go out. I rush her to the dog door and out she goes no problem. But then she just stands there waiting for me to go out the human door and join her. If I don’t go out she just stands there and won’t potty. I assume this could be to ensure she gets a treat but I would like to encourage her to go outside and do her business without being accompanied. Will this eventually happen on its own? Are there steps I can take to get her to start behaving independently?

Thank you so much in advance. I did check the history but didn’t see anything quite like my specific questions.
