Hello! My husband and I adopted our Dalmatian puppy at 9 weeks. We didn’t crate train her from the start — our fault, yes, we know — and are trying to crate train her now at 9 months. We are just crating her when we leave the house, not overnight.
She eats meals in her crate and is fine. We put her in for 10 minutes a day and up to 30 minutes a day while we are home. She whines a bit but she is fine.
We left the house for the first time with her in the crate and she screamed the entire few hours we were gone. We left again today and she did the same thing. She kicks the crate and moves it all over the living room. We’ve tried giving her calming gummies and they do absolutely nothing.
I truly don’t know what to do. I’m really hoping she will get used to it and this is just a phase but I’m worried it won’t get better. Is this the best way to crate train her? Please leave any tips. Thank you!!
