First Time Puppy Owner

I've rescued dogs before but never experienced puppyhood. I hope I'm doing this right so far and would love some critiques.

Yesterday we brought home our 8 week old girl. She was born at the shelter so she's already used to a kennel somewhat. Been taking her outside every hour to pee. She doesn't ask yet but whenever I see her sniffing I attempt outside. Had a few accidents inside throughout the day. Gave her supper around 6pm followed by potty, play, nice big drink of water around 7 and then stopped water/food for the night. Little more play, potty, cuddles and final potty break around 9:30 then bed. Someone suggested to us to put her bed/kennel elevated and close by my face so she can see us while adjusting. Every half hour this girl woke up crying. I would comfort her back to sleep the first half hour then on the hour- potty break. She peed everytime outside and I gave her praise. Finally by 1am she stayed asleep until 5:30am. I feel like this was a success for the first night here. I had expected not to sleep at all but thankful for the 4 hrs lol. She went both poo and pee 30 mins after breakfast, but then peed on my rug 10 mins later lol. Any advice if I'm doing this right or tips to improve? I really want to get this potty training right. I feel pretty confident with other behavioral training. Thank you in advance!
