TLDR how do I teach my pitbull puppy to stop trying to assert dominance over my senior dog? He’s not aggressive but does push him out of the way to eat senior dogs food pushes senior dog out of bed. I’ve seen senior dog play with him and wag his tail but he gets annoyed over time . And puppy won’t stop. I usually have to tell the puppy to stop or take his attention away with a toy.
I’ve never had more than one dog at a time and wanted to get my senior dog a friend so he felt less alone while I was at work we moved into a rough neighborhood, and there was a skinny pitbull that was barking at me. I felt really bad and gave him two donuts and he followed me home and stayed on my porch I let him come in and slowly introduced my senior dog to the one I just found they got along just fine shockingly but my senior dog seems to let the young puppy take over his spaces. The young puppy will push my older dog out of the way when he’s trying to eat snip at his neck, doesn’t ever break out into a fight and when the senior dog lies down on his bed, the puppy will push him out of it. Even if I go to pet, my older dog, the puppy tries to push him out of the way they have two dog beds and I started feeding them separately as well as walking them separately.
