Hello everyone!
I have a 10 month old labradoodle that has been with us for about 6 weeks. We are her third home already, and we were told that she's used to be being on her own and crate trained. However, we've found the complete opposite.
Whilst she is happy to be in her crate when I'm home and in the same room, as soon as I leave she begins whining and barking about being alone. I've also tried not locking the crate door and allowing her free roam of the living room (as Julie Naismith recommends avoiding the crate) but she also claws at that door as soon as I leave. Despite repeated attempts of the Julie Naismith method, I just cannot get past even one second of her on her own. As soon as I re-enter, she is panting and clearly stressed out whether she has been left occupational toys/treats or nothing at all.
To make matters worse, she does this when I leave but my partner is at home with her, yet when my partner leaves she has no reaction. She does eventually settle one when someone else is there, but I find it concerning that it even begins.
I am truly at my wit's end as we just cannot make any progress and it's making me feel absolutely terrible!
If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
