Gsd pup, food changes and what to do with a entra half bag of kibble

So my pup is a 15 week month old gsd, when we got him from the breeders he got sent home with food for a few days but it was purina and I do not particularly like the brand so I swapped him to harringtons until I found something more suitable, every morning at 7:30am he will start howling to get out of his crate, mind you he gets out at 4am for a middle of the might pee so it couldn't be that, He normally goes out of the crate at 8am so we waited it out until he calmed down again and got him out at 8am so he would not learn crying gets me out. He would eat extremely quick after his potty break at 8am, I was hand feeding, slow feeder, toy feeders, everything for the first 2 weeks while I researched another food. He was a gift ( my partner saw him, asked me if I wanted him and we contacted them same day and she paid for him) so I did not have time to do this research before hand. We finally got him on Arden grande for large puppies, yesterday was his firts day with only that brand, I woke up this morning at 7:30am out of habit and check the petcam, sleeping, checked at 8am before going into the room, sleeping, he actually got up when I got into the room and greeted me with lovings and the biggest morning stretch I've seen of him, got out for potty and did the biggest poo in the world, then got to his slow feeder (I portion the food into airtight containers the night before) so I already had it ready, waited for cue and then is eating nice and slow, engaged with it but nice and slow. I'm realizing now it was the nutrition, all of it,happened the same way with the Purina so I thought that was just him. I was planning on using the last half bag of harringtons as treats since he does have that high of a food drive he will train for kibble and do it happily but now I'm not sure if I should just throw it away entierly and do something else for training treats. Thoughts on it?
