She just started about 2, almost 3 weeks ago to lay on her sister’s bed, and basically take it over. Her older sister has to curl up all the way to one side and isn’t able to stretch. Their beds sit side by side and my younger dog will have half her body on her sisters’s bed and the other half on her own bed with a whole foot of space remaining in her bed. Plus she looks super uncomfortable and awkward when her sister is right next to her. She’ll have a bit of a whale eye and sad puppy look on her face, and I’ve seen her do a paw up to her sister. Also these are large beds too that I got two sizes bigger so they have enough room to stretch and what not.
The first couple weeks we were trying to wait it out and let the older dog deal with her, but she’s a pretty submissive dog and isn’t the type to tell other dogs off. So now we’ve had to intervene and every time we see the younger dog on her sister’s bed we do tell her sternly “uh uh” and “place” and reward her for going back to her place. The last few days though when we walk in to the room where the dogs are the younger dog trots back to her bed from being on her sisters bed and then has the look in her face like she’s waiting for her reward. So I think we’ve accidentally trained her to expect a treat when she goes from her sisters bed to her own.
Now we have no clue what to do. Anyone have experience with this!
