Hi all! I searched a found a few posts similar to my situation, but still not quite, so I am sorry if this is redundant. My husband and I have two dachshunds. The oldest is 11. He is the oldest dog we have had and we have felt honored and blessed to watch his face turn frosty. However, the past several months he has turned into a complete menace. He lives for food and until a couple years ago, he did a great job of not over eating and we were active enough that he kept a very muscled, healthy 25 pound Standard Doxie frame. He is neutered and has always had healthy vet visits, including his most recent one where the vet said he could lose 2 pounds and that his eyes are aging, but no other issues. Age caught up with him and his metabolism and he started becoming a rotund little guy, we put him on senior food and a diet. He was not a fan. But he adjusted. We had him on that diet for almost 2 years, nothing changed recently as far as that goes. But he has developed this habit of peeing. On everything. Never the same spot twice. He will pee on the floor, he will jump up onto the couch just to pee and then leave. He will pee on our bed. He will walk up to me while I am making dinner and pee on my feet. He has even peed on my lap a couple times. He will pee right after he eats dinner. Or if his dinner is 20 minutes late. I cannot find a pattern for his behavior. We live in an apartment or else I would install a doggy door for him. So we have started going outside more times a day. But it is like he doesn't empty his bladder when we are outside so he can come inside and pee. Short of keeping him in his kennel except to go for walks and eat, I have no idea what to do. Does anybody have any suggestions for me??
