I rescued a pup a month ago. Everything was fine until these last few days when he started showing signs of aggression when picked up. He starts growling, and showing his teeth (kind of like a chihuahua ngl), and if you don't put him down he snaps at you.
The curious thing is that it's people specific, he starts doing it until he sees my face then he gets all cuddly, but he strikes with other people. I know he's not being abused by any of these people because they're my family, and he's usually playful and loving to them aside from when they try to carry him.
At first, I thought it was because he was injured since he's not the brightest, and has fallen quite a lot from the couch. But, I've been looking at him playing with my 11 month old dog and their playtime is obviously playing, but she's rough with him. As in like pushing him around, barking at him, growling into his body while she presses him down with a toy. I'm pretty sure this is the cause of why he's being like that, because he does the same to her when he's done with her, and is trying to sleep.
I've been thinking of taking him to a trainer but no one is taking us in because of his age, and the lack of vaccines that he's too young for at the moment. I'm scared that this will get worse if I don't start addressing it now, and wait until he's 3 months for the shots. Is this normal? When my older dog was a puppy, we used to have an elder dog and he never treated her like this, and I've never had a puppy do this before. Any suggestions on how to correct his behavior?
